We as baby boomers can find the concerns stated all over the internet, but solid solutions that the average baby boomer can embrace without risking any of our hard earned/hard saved income are needed. The only way to get more for retirement when you are already in your 50s or even 60s is obviously to increase income and/or reduce expenses. Sounds simple doesn't it? But that means either get a job, part time or full time; or pay off bills/debt as quickly as possible while at the same time delay social security payments as long as you can to maximize your ultimate income. I elected to look into work from home options and have found a solid one. Be careful, there are many scams out there! You need to understand how to look for a solid one:
1. Good reputable company in a growth field is a good start. 2. Good references are another. 3. No large investment and there are 12 more that I used to evaluate. And after 8 1/2 years it's still going strong! Sue

Successful retirement, is what I was looking for in the article. Yes, at 59, I am concerned as I have saved, invested and paid my bills. Now, after I paid into all the social security, income and every other tax...it's soylent green for us that plan to retire. How dare, the top dogs say, the heavy burden of taking care of the senior citizens. We, worked from when were 13, there were no cell phones/computers/or just wasting time. Schooling, ipads, cell phones, and computers, for the, "I want it now!!" generation, is taking over, as who stands where. We, are history in the USA and the future is the long term investment, todays youth programs. Every State, including Florida, will have their income taxes, state taxes, and utilities raised as America is almost broke???? Where is George Soros?? He, is supposed be an expert like Warren Buffett. We, seniors need to take a stand even you are confined to a wheelchair the future for us is looking like a bad movie called, "Soylent Green."

This article is certainly mistitled. I read this hoping to find an insight into a possible way out of a seemingly insurmountable situation that so far seems to preclude ANY possiblilty of a retirement. I am hopeful there IS a solution, but have not yet discovered it. This article does provide a list of realities but without insights for income and savings challenged individuals.This article certainly does NOT offer a way to OVERCOME retirement challenges for those of us caught in the housing and job loss debaucle who have had to go through all our savings and retirement income just to survive. DOES ANYONE HAVE A RESOURCE FOR ME ABOUT REBUILDING RETIREMENT FROM NOTHING AT AGE 54?

Elder povity is now being desined by Fereral Goverment Removeing the cost of food from cost of living index. (we have to pay our own money we don't get money from lobiest . as does congress. we are not geting sefent intrest Goverment set low rates to help their Fiancial supporters. we are in for inflation designed by Washington.they see thst as a way to fix to the deficate They put in place to get more money for reelection Etc they don't give a dam for old people

Excellent list. I like that you haven't restricted your advice to just financial concerns. A Satisfying retirement is so much more.
