What You Need to Know About Social Security Reform

Thak you for one of the most concise articles on social security I have ever read. Social security is definitely not broke nor is it a Pnzi scheeme - yet. When the trust fund is gone, say some time in 2030, let the system change from a system of vested entitlements to a system of shared income by way of a 5% tax on all income both personal and corporate. Some years social security recipients will get more and some years they will get less but the system will be stable and no one but the very rich and corporate executives will complain and whine about a 5% tax they can not avoid.

It's the same old story - Social Security fund has been raided too many times in the past for defense and political reasons. It is the same story with the postal pension fund - now too is in terrible shape. The federal government lie between their teeth - they just cannot keep their hands of a cash cow. For reasons beyond me - they just keep kicking the can down the road - and at the end of the day - we the people keep re-electing political white collar crooks.

The citizens of the USA have a contract with the U.S. government to provide Social Security Benefits. We paid in = we expect what was promised. Who did we elect on the platform that it was okay for the government to "breach of contract" Social Security? Seniors will be just as injured as Enron victims, because the economy has already stolen our retirement savings!

A novel idea, put back into social security what was taken out to fund other things thus robbing wage earners of their "Vesting"!!!

i called it from the begining when obama lied on national television. i vowed not to vote for him even though i am democrat. i never did vote for him. but this reform on social security affects a lot of ppl. how in the world are those ppl gonna pay their bills or live with no money, no health insurance, no roof over their heads or even food in their stomaches? what a mistake we all made by putting him in office

a deal between the parties is already underway behind closed doors, no transparency here! Let me guess, President Obamination will "reluctantly" concede to the republicans. Have we not seen this before?

Definition of the dirty word "ENTITLEMENTS" -- Any program paid with American taxpayer dollars for services and a direct benefit to same taxpayers AND NOT used for pork, earmarks, graft, or corruption. No wonder our politicans think it is a dirty word!!
