Public in Denial About Cost of Fiscal Fix

Strange, many comments I see on this topic indicate the writers understand that taxes must go up. The GOP has removed 75% of the solutions to our deficit crisis off the table by insisting that tax increase, ie; ending of the Bush Tax cuts are a non starter. That gift to the top 2% cost the US 1.2 trillion dollars over the past 8 years, and acted as a catalyst to transfer more wealth to that same group. It did not create jobs. Our economy during the Clinton years was just fine, yet once the GOP took power, the very same failed economic policies Ryan and crew are proposing went into effect, and wracked our economy.

Our economy can be fixed, the deficit can be dealt with, but only if all solutions, not just the few "approved" by the GOP.

Americans are not stupid, they know fiscal change is obvious, perhaps starting with a roll back of Congressional Salaries, and retirement packages.

When it comes to retirement, federal employees will continue to work. Fortunately, age descrimination laws will not allow public opinion to push them out under the misguided belief that some how they contributed to trilions of dollars in debt (the average hourly wage equals $60 thousand a year). The citizens who live beyond the Washington Metro should pray that federal employees keep their jobs because those FEDS spend and willl continue to contribute. Beleve me if federal jobs are cut, the funds will go to contractors, and federal employees who decide to or happen to be forced to leave will work undr those contracts; and receive retirement funds, social security, and TSP. What am I saying? Have I lost it? Yes, put those old FEDS out in the street; they will do just fine, and have extra funds and ability to really let the near sighted know how they really think. It is really muddy out here; they appear to want to remove dscritonary money from the hands of those who can spend it to help turn are falling economy around! :-)

We must get our fiscal house in order that public employee swells can continue to feed at the trough, we can keep troops in Korea and Iraq for another three hundred years, let Hillary feel she is "making a difference," and support massive immigration and DREAM acts to keep wages down.

The government is the enemy of the people. Is it surprising that the people are not in harmony with the self-serving scuzz in Washington?

Are the democrats and the republicans really foes, or just, in many instances, really co-conspirators?

Suggestion for a bumper sticker "WHO NEEDS TERRORISTS, WE HAVE POLITICIANS!"

Our politicians are only interested in looking in our direction when discussing neccessary "sacrifices" that need to be made as long as the sacrifices are ours.

Social security really amounts to a compulsory savings program of OUR money from OUR paychecks for OUR retirement. Instead of safeguarding these funds and allowing them to collect interest our thieving politicians put it all into the general fund and spent it all (they stole it!). Now that they have to come up with the money they want to slash (reform) ss because they will have to borrow the funds they stole and pay interest on that debt as well. GET IT!

Deals have already been made between Obama and congress behind closed doors, no transparency here! Together with Obama's hand picked members of the deficit commission, the gang of six, and the republicans we will be given the choice of a "government shutdown" or a major hit to entitlements. Not one of them threatened a government shutdown when they passed the extension to the ruinous Bush tax cuts for the filthy rich. Hmmmm?

They are following a carefully choroeographed script to crate the scenerio they want us to believe. Do not be tricked!
