Why Seniors Should Embrace Higher Oil Prices

The goverment is giong to keep takeing away, not giving. They gave us a fair raise in 08 and found out how to take it away by not includeing gas and food in the cost of living. What do they want us to eat, dog food? Sorry, that's going up also. This is bull$hit because gas and food are part of the cost of living. They want us all to die so they don't have to pay our Socicl Security any more. If we get anything this year, it will be taken by medicare and leave us poorer than we were AGAIN!!! Soon we will all starve to death and they will have reached there goal. Shame on you polititions!!! The polititions are ALL rich and don't care about the less fortunate!!!

Bull, they don't include food and energy in a COLA!!! We probably won't get anything again this year!!!

I was under the understanding that food & fuel was NOT figured into cost of livin g adjustment, but everything else has also gone so much they surly could not figure a raise was not needed this time also??? I agree with the others, to embrace these obscene gas prices to believe they would help with a cola next year is thinking like a politican, and we know thats like wind pudding & air sauce

I find the title to this blog insulting, and the whole concept of the article absurd. It's like saying to look forward to poverty because it helps you clean out your house.

This article makes one think we're supposed to embrace outrageuos gas prices. While we seniors can't afford to go to shop for groceries or go to the doctor we can revel in the hope that all will be well next year. Is this where we're supposed to break out the balloons and celebrate? I think NOT.

It is short-sighted thinking to expect seniors to cheer for an increase in their COLA due to the gas price hikes.

Any COLA increases will be wiped out by the comprehensive across the board price hikes in food, utiliities, daily supplies, transportation, etc. when those gas prices are factored into the prices of goods and services.

Driving to the doctors and hospitals will be costly to the point where COLAs won't balance the scale out.

Article is very informative and almost encouraging for those of us seniors struggling with all the high prices. However, the "jab" comes at the end when it states the obvious if our Social Security does increase so shall our Medicare premiums.
