Protecting Senior Benefits Puts Medicaid at Risk

Social Security benefits to high income seniors who make over say 100$ (not sure of the amount here) and who do not need a Soc. Sec. check each month to live on, might be looked at. This amount alone could help the system abundantly!

Tax all at the same rate, take the cap off and have everyone pay FICA on all earnings. The poor pay on 100% why aren’t people making over $200.200 being made to pay on 100%?

I think cutting Medicaid is a wonderful idea! If you refuse to cut it, why not change it so that the seniors get the free ride on medical treatment and the younger people only get the 80% paid? Why should some bratty kid grow up to adulthood and still get all his medical paid in full, plus a monthy benefit for life? Forty (40) years ago when my son was a child we solved this stupid ADD problem with a hand applied to a backside and teaching our children to respect themselves and others. People took care of their "special needs" relatives and no one expected the government to do it for them. If you haven't worked or don't work and contribute then you shouldn't receive. I worked and paid taxes for over 40 years and now I have to live on beans and rice and take my meds every other day because I can't afford to live lie a normal person. I ave to keep my fingers crossed that my doctor will accept Medicare insurance since they keep cutting what it will pay. I haven't been able to buy clothes or shoes or make up for 2 years, I don't have a cell phone anymore. All of this thanks to the government cuttig Social Security and Medicare while giving a total free ride the family down the street that works for cash and draws full welfare and Medicaid benefits. They have flat screen tvs, iPhones, and money to party and drink on. Thy have bar b qs with steak all supportd by our fine government. The only good thing is they are not illegals, merely products of our government. Our government makes it more beneficial to not work, to have a baby every year and not bother to teach the children to behave or have respect for others. We have generations of welfare families and they have no intention of changing their habits because our government supports them.

I agree with Ted Cardelli...this is robbery. Let the members of congress give up some of their "goodies" or how about the study of how salamandars survive...that's much more important than making sure Seniors can pay their rent..or eat each month. How about cutting out the real waste and stop playing games with seniors benefits. We have enough challenges in life, we don't need to have the stress of wondering what you'll do to us next.

I have paid into Social Security for 38 years, and medicare too.

I deserve to be paid in my senior years, what I paid the Government to protect for me. Please listen to our seniors, you all on Capitol Hill, probably have enough for yourselfs, but don't forget who put you there and paid your salaries>>>>>

SOCIAL SECURITY HAS BECOME A JOKE!!. WHEN L.B.J. SINGED IT INTO THE GENERAL FUND IT WENT DOWN THE SLIPPERY SLOPE. ALL OF OUR ELECTED REPS. SHOULD BE GETTING THE SAME PACKAGE OF BENEFITS THAT WE EARN FOR WORKING MOST ALL OF OUR LIFE. THEN YOU WOULD SEE THE SYSTEM FIXED PRONTO!!!.

I am very disapointed in the government for wanting to cut our Social Security. I have worked all my life and I put in 35 years in textiles before the big companies decited to move to other countries. There is no reason to cut our benefits when they can cut some of the tax breaks these big companies that make billions of dollars every year. The fixed income we get after we pay our medicare and drug insurance that leaves us 20% to pay out of what we get is not enough for us to live on. For 2 years they have been telling us that prices haven't gone up so we don't get a cost of living raise. I don't know where they buy groceries, gas, and clothing but where I live it is continously going up but I guess if I made the money that the ones making these calls about our money that we have paid in make I wouldn't have to worry about it either and they don't have to pay for insurance or their medical care. I am sure that if social security and disability is cut there will be a lot of the ones making these decisions that want be re-elected next time. So leave our little bit of income alone.

I was a salery employe at a large auto company, retired after 38 yrs service. I am 63 and in my retirement i have had my med. ins. change, so now i have to pay $ 2500 befoe the ins. kicks in, next year i understand my only ins, will be medicaid. The level of my life insureance was dropped way below the level i had paid thru out my years of service and part of my pension will be my social security that i paid into since i was 17. I have a disability so i must depend on my benifits, It is unconsionable for congress to take away the benifits iworked for so long. The same congress who after the last congressional election voted to save the tax breaks for the very rich ! and tax breaks for business. we are helping to pay for oil drilling to the most profitable oil companies, then there was the bail out of wall street by the bush administration, which was nessary but there was no accountability on how the funds were used and they paid huge bonuses to the very people that got us into the mess.

Why does the congress feel so little concern for the lower middle class and the poor, They seem to have there prioritys on the rich and business

i am a unemployed senior. lost my job a tear ago and cant find a job. i have been in management for 30 + years and feel im being judged because of my age (65) i just started getting Medicare. i have invested into the system for 50 years. now they want to make all these changes. I feel thats unfair to all who have put blood sweat and tears into the jobs we had for years. I get social security which after Medicare ins. deduction doesnt begin to cover my mortage let alone anything else.I dont expect it to cover all my expenses but at least take the edge off. the guys in Washington dont pay for health ins. have good medical coverage I feel they should pay what we have paid down through the years.
