What a creative piece of writing! It should be in Amazing Science Fiction, or some such appropriate vehicle.

Whistling Past the Graveyard.

Whether this writer can handle it or not, the nature of the discussion has changed. He cherry-picks questions from the right-leaning Gallup Poll, but ignores measured overwhelming public resentment that the rich are not paying their fair share.

In fact, the public has twice as favorable opinion of the Occupy Wall Street movement as they do of the Tea Party. They want the deficit closed with higher tax rates on the rich. Thirty years of decline in the middle class has created a ferment in this country that all the ostrich-headed internet columnists together cannot wish away.
