Consider these facts:

People are living longer than ever before in human history. The segment of our population that is growing at the fastest rate are those who turn age 85.

The majority of those who require long-term care serivces are elderly.

The government will not have the ability to pay for long-term care.

People live in denial about the fact that other than dying, the risk of needing long-term care during their lifetime is greater than any other risk they face.

The consequences of not insuring against this risk could wipe out a lifetime of accumulated savings.

California launched a new website that walks people through the steps of planning for long-term care. It’s rich in straight-forward information, tools, planning calculators and resources. And since it’s produced by the State of California, it offers an unbiased look at alternatives for addressing long-term care issues. Visit www.RUReadyCa.org for a look at the facts, the costs and the emotional challenges of long-term care, while weighing real world solutions.

"MetLife is committed to our Long-Term Care Insurance customers.

While we have decided to stop selling new long-term care insurance (LTCI) coverage, this decision will have no impact to the coverage of our existing LTCI customers"

Good info and may I suggest that those interested in long term care planning info read 2 free guides (online) from the American Association for Long Term Care Insurance. They can be accessed at http://www.aaltci.org/long-term-care-insurance-costs/ and no sign in is required.
