I survived--even thrived--during the Depression, followed by being drafted at 18 and sent to the war in Europe. So the current little bitty Recession is a joke as far as I am concerned. However I saw the possibility of Depression No. 2 and took precautions. I moved to Fort Lauderdale where the boat-minded people call my trailer a land yacht. How elegant. I haven't had, or needed, hot water in 20 years. I have no proper stove or refrigerator, just a top-of-the-line hot plate and mini-refrigerator. My average power bill is below $20 as a result. Never forget that many of the world's greatest gourmet dishes were prepared in a single cooking pot over a lone source of fire. For more tips, read my book Affordable Luxuries, available on Kindle for 99 cents--another great bargain, don't you think?
