More experience means we are older. Even if we are experienced in the field they are seeking help in, we are not wanted because they don't want to invest in our training or benefits because we cost too much and will not be around for a long term career. We are being required to stipulate who our contacts and their phone numbers are and we don't know because everything is submitted to the 'black hole' called the internet. The perfect 'Gate Keeper'. After spending 42 years in Information Technology technical and sales roles, all I am qualified for now is working at Home Depot or Lowe's. However, I am good at this after 6 years helping people needing to do repair or building to their homes. The outlook is bleak at best, but we have to keep trying. Good luck to all of you.

They say the jobs are out there for 50 and over but who are where are they coming from I have been looking for a year and a half nothing in this small town. Its going but past me.I have been reading about these so call jobs and the comments are all the same,"Where Are These Jobs".

It seems to me that most of the jobs available are not resonable for close to 60 woman. They either require heavy lifting or experience in a certain field I never did and would require schoolong or more man jobs ? What should I do to help myself in this area? Shold I settle for alot less pay and do things I am over qualified for ? Creadit ratings are also now a requirement and since mine has turned to the worse with no job I feel like sometimes I am begging and getting nowhere ! I used to be able to get a job with my personality and my abilities to help the company and work ethics but does it matter any more ? It does to me !

People 55 and older have taken menial jobs, or jobs below their highest and best skills. By 55, you may have been employed in 2 or more professions. You may have fallen back on some of the older, past skill sets to stay employed.

Instead of laying off personell, or sending their jobs overseas, I cannot undestand why Corporations (Businesses) won't try going part-time with either reduced benefits or NO benefits.

Keep people working in America. Be a positive influence for America not a negative influence.

THe hospitals are having to go computerized in this next year and giving meds are on computer.I was never properly trained at work or told to go get advanced computer skills through education and now I am afraid that I will not be able to get another hospital job without soon in depth computer skills if work in texas won't help.
