States Attorneys General need to lift all time limits on recovering Pensions due to women of divorce.
To ensure protection of Pension for divorced women, Lawyers must be provided to all women in divorce especially stay at home moms without income.
Even as a spouse divorcing for multiple abuses by a husband earning $100K/yr no lawyer (CA) would represent / protect my family. That alone perpetuates poverty of women and/or conspires to keep them bound to abusive marriage.

Thoughtful article and solid advice. However, current retiree widows / widowers have been effectively sabotaged by current Fed policies that "take" from hard working savers in order to bail out dishonest bankers. Mr Bernanke has, essentially, completely changed the basic rules of retirement planning with the unprecedented low interest rates currently available to retired seniors and other savers.
What rankles almost as much as the destruction of careful financial planning (and secondary effects on the mental and physical well being of retirees) is the cavalier way in which Mr. Bernanke dismisses the pain he has foisted upon responsible retirees. I sincerely believe his policies rise to the level of "financial abuse" of savers. In addition, his plan doesn't appear to be working very well....
