We too were treated wrong. We have never been late on a mtg payment in 25 yrs of marriage until we both were laid off in '08. We called Countrywide in Oct. '08 to inform them of what was happening, they said they couldn't help us until we were late by two months. We called them back in Dec. and they said don't make any more payments on 1st or 2nd that they will get back with us. Went on-line to pay our 2nd mtg because we could afford it and found that they had locked our 1st mtg account, couldn't make payments if we wanted to. Remained current on 2nd mtg for 17 mos while sending 7 hardship letters and all docs for what we thought they were going to help us. Received final foreclosure letter end of Feb. '10 to be out by Mar. 19th. We started moving Mar. 12th and were done by 18th, checked our mailbox one last time on 18th and found a letter from their atty and courhouse a "Motion to Cancel Foreclosure Sale" (one day before it was to sell on the courthouse steps). By the way, the judge was extremely rude to us when we had our 5 min. consultation in her office. We spent $2,400. moving and securing a rental home because we didn't want an eviction on our record. We even left the home clean, left all our 2" blinds, surround sound speakers (because we didn't want to leave holes in the walls). We tried so hard to stay in our home only to be treated so wrong. It's too late....we'll rent from our new landlords and never do business with Countrywide or Bank of America again!!! If there is a lawsuit against them, we want to be a part of it, we want our moving expenses back, we want restitution for the stress this caused us.

I too was swindled by Countrywide. With a 12% fixed rate, requested a interest rate reduction, got a modification that kept the 12% but was lucky enought to have them increase my monthly payment. My account was screwed up from day one. Initially went with Castle Point was advised first payment was in March. Got a letter from Countrywide late February advising I was late and requested two months of payments. Explained again and again to deaf ears. Now over 2 years later they are kind enought to have 20 - 30 day lates on my credit while the entire time I have been making the monthly payment on time.

Something must be done to this company. In their wisdom they gave all that money to the banks who in turn did not disburse to any customers but modified their loans, with the same rate, and increased their monthly payments. What they should have done was to immediately place an interest rate cap on loans. So what if the banks lost money. They could have been provided a form to recoup from the government instead of them just giving out millions upon millions and not requesting, sorry, demanding detail on where the funds went.

If there is a law suit I too would like to be added to the list.

I called countrywide today 1/26/09 to see about lowering my payments.Because I was laid off from work. The woman I talked to told me there was no plan for me with the mortgage I have. And I asked what kind did I have. She said you have a fixed rate mortgage. So what I want to know is am I being discrimanated against because I have a fixed rate mortgage. Why would they want someone to lose their house because they got laid off?

I too am a victim of Countrywide. All I wanted was to refinance for a fixed rate mortgage. They would'nt give me a mortgage unless I reported my income and prifit sharing and all assets from my insurance policies in addition to taking out a second mortgage to pay down my bills. At the time I was able to afford all of my bills and my mortgage which was confusing to me that they would want me to do that. Since then I have lost my job and have liquidated all of my assets to pay my mortgages and bills. I have been making payments although they have been late and I couldn't pay the late fees. Now I have come to find out that they have taken the money and put it in some sort of account and not towards paying off my mortgage. I called them to try to make some kind of arrangement but they won't talk to me untill I get a job. I am 60 years old and am now facing foreclosure. HELP!!!!! I thought I was doing the right thing to pay my mortgage in good faith instead I may now be homeless and lose my home....

I have tried and tried to work with countrywide for loan modifications etc. They have taken my mortgage payments and applied them to old tax bills that were supposedly added to the life of my mortgage; leaving my monthly mortgage to appear as if it is not being paid and compounding balances of "unpaid" monthly payments resulting in foreclosure status. WHAT?!? I am paying towards my mortgage! Countrywide paid old taxes that were granted into a loan modification! I need to keep my home. I am a school teacher and I have two babies and my husband just got rehired. Can anyone help me? I want to keep my home and pay my mortgage, but this compounding to where it's logically impossible is threatening us with loosing our home.

I have ARM with Countrywide. due to a work injury I had to take some time off and advised them AHEAD of time of my upcoming difficulty to pay my mortgage, their answer" until you are 30 days late, there is nothing we can do". After 30 days, of course, in order for them to help me, I had to pay the late fees! Tried several times to do loan modification, no answer. HOPE tried, no answer, Paid a third party, still no answer (but they did charge me 1 year ahead of time for my taxes!). Please include me in the lawsuit. I am currently in default and almost in foreclosure. I am seeking an attorney, if anyone can refer me to an HONEST one, count me in.
