We've got an update in the case of the parking ticket foreclosure.

Milwaukee is reportedly continuing its legal fight against a man whose failure to pay a $50 parking ticket led to the foreclosure of his home—even after the mayor promised intervene on the man's behalf. The man, Peter Tubic, 62, got the ticket in 2004. He said he didn't pay it because of health problems and the death of his father. Overdue charges drove the fine up to $2,600, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, before the city turned to foreclosure on the house to try to collect.

From the Journal Sentinel:

The City of Milwaukee is digging in its heels in its attempt to foreclose on the home of a man who failed to pay a fine for parking an unlicensed van in his parents' driveway.

The city filed a response Thursday asking the judge to deny the request from Peter Tubic and his attorney to set aside the foreclosure or reduce his fine to the original $50.

"Giving special treatment out of sympathy to one property owner or waiving the statutory requirements of one property owner because his case was reported by the media, when there are dozens of others whose homes may have been foreclosed upon after personal difficulties, would destroy the integrity" of the foreclosure process, attorneys for the city wrote in their motion....

A hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11. If the city retains ownership of the house, Tubic can remain there as a renter until the house is sold. After that, the new homeowners can decide if they want to continue renting out the house. Tubic can file a petition with the city to collect whatever money remains from the sale of the house after the city takes its cut.

I believe all should stand up together and fight for it. If something like this would have happen to richy, wealthy than case would have being not even filled.

Government cant take away livelihood of real american's.

We build this country by paying proper taxes they should look at his background. he does not have any criminal records nothing than why such harsh decision for small offesence.

His value is more than $50.

We should make government reliaze where they should focus.

I guess as this has became media case, so government will also try to maintian his status.

But if we all fight than we can win. As America is mabe by people and not by government.

Note this could happen to anyone, you or me if we togehter does not fight for it.

If we the people STOP allowing them to have thist type of power, then all this BS will end. NOT UNTIL.

Thats you, Thats me. Thats all americans. since WHEN can they take your HOME for a parking ticket?

I have heard about a lot of injustices, but this one ranks at the top.

no doubt they dont CARE how much they get, or if they even sell it for the amount owed to cover their butts legally. They DONT CARE if it is sold at market value or lower or higher.

MASS CIVIL DISOBEDIANCE that is THE ONLY thing that will work in this case. when they jump you STAY PUT!

Look up - taxes on methane, cows, pigs, YOU AND ME (Carbon Taxes) that OUR government is about to deploy on all of us? what if we dont pay those? home taken from us even if it is PIAD OFF?!

pure injustice.

Look up th emeaning of FASCISM - it is the merging of corperatism with government. WE ARE THERE!

CHANGE IT. cause i doubt Obama will.
