It's been all over the local news lately. The Phoenix police chief has been demoted about 1-2 weeks ago for falsely claiming many crimes were kidnappings when they weren't.

The demoted former Phoenix Police chief lied to get $1.5 million from the federal government for the alleged high kidnapping rate. But, the liberal national broadcast media never seems to want to say anything positive about AZ even if its retracting something negative.

The fact is Mesa is the safest city in the US which includes earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.

Additionally, as far as crime goes Gilbert, AZ which borders Chandler & Mesa was the only US city in 2005 with over 100,000 people with zero murders.

AZ is REALLY safe.......everywhere has what you mentioned.....I lived in PHX for 2 years.....try visiting Miami, Camden NJ, Richmond VA, and you will see why All those AZ cities are safe from natural disasters....and crime compared to most cities.

I wonder why you did not add crime in this posting. For example the number one city in the U.S. for kidnapping is Phoenix AZ. In Tucson we deal with constant break ins, murder, drug trafficing ect. I realize that you only looked at the geographics of the area, however you should make a sub-cat of crime and healthcare in the areas.

We may not have tornadoes but we sure do have earthquakes and a constant lava floe, as well hurricanes and tsunamis! I wouldn't even come close to saying we are one of the safest states. But..... I still love my Hawaii ;)
