It's too bad that the current dislocations will hurt so many poor and middle class people, but I think in the middle to long term it will provide the impetus to push through the necessary socioeconomic reforms this country needs to take it back into the top ranks of civilized industrial countries.

50% of home bankruptcies are due to extreme medical bills. Corporations such as energy companies extract (gouge) profits, but aren't billed for their environmental damage or the military interventions needed to protect their supplies of "raw materials".

The last shred of large industrial manufacturing in this country (automobiles) is threatened with bankruptcy of its own, and is granted a bailout that likely will hold off but not eliminate the inevitable.

Taxpayers are already soaked for some six or seven trillion dollars in misguided "rescues", wars of imperialism, payoffs to financial, medical/pharmaceutical and other corporations who have bought and paid for our "democracy". This is why I hold precious little hope that real change is going to happen anytime soon.

It is time to simply outlaw these corporations and take them under whole ownership of the taxpayers. There is no free market, there has never been a free market, and those who chronically chant for the "Free Market" should get down on whatever passes for their knees and thank whatever passes for their gods that there is no free market. Believe me, the people who run Exxon/Mobile, Microsoft, AT&T, Bank of America and the rest couldn’t be lest interested in a free market.

Why should we pay trillions, then have to pay yet more in co-pays and the like, be denied coverage that has been paid for a thousand times over. The fascist corporatists seek to destroy the middle class and organized labor. The auto bailout is going to be used to kill the UAW, that is the only purpose for it.

Bush and his cronies have found the only acceptable way they can stem the tide of "illegal" immigration--to make America so crappy no one will want to come here.

Our law makers should pass a law(s) letting the American people give them selves a bailout by making it legal for all Americans to cancel at least 50% or more of their total debt to mortage and credit card industry. Let them be the fall guys and bail out Americans.Let us use Nancy Regans slogan once again to paying our debt to irresponsible and greedy mortage and credit card industry "just say no!" And let it be legal, and if it they won't make it legal let it be a new battle cry from grass roots. And damn the credit reporting agencies to.

"I am tired as hell, and I'm not going to take it ant more!"

This is such a sad time in our country. Not everyone has a fancy named loan. For some people, they were working doing the right thing, paying the bills, qualifying full doc, and now due to the market are also falling into the same penniless situation.
