It is not always true that these propeties and homes are in crime ridden neighborhoods. I invest in Detroit full time and have found excellent deals in historic parts of Detroit such as Russell Woods and Warrendale. Don't believe the media telling you this. Some of my best deals were purchased for less than $10,000 and I found renters within 5 days.

Don't forget that these houses are located in crime-ridden rundown areas, often times the homes were vandalized and have plenty of fixing up to do when you buy them. And then, you are faced with drug infestation and no hope that the area will ever get better.
