2008 Average Real Estate Commissions Inch Up to 5.20%

I was surprised recently when I learned that average real estate commissions were not 6 percent, as you often hear, but in fact much closer to 5 percent. The following figures--provided by ForSaleByOwner.com, an arch enemy of real estate brokers--confirm that while average real estate commissions edged higher in 2008, to 5.20 percent, they remain well below 6 percent. (Note: the rate data comes from Real Trends.)

The Obama administration is trying to persuade reluctant private investors to buy troubled assets by offering subsidies as part of the program. The plan relies on private investors to team up with the government to relieve banks of assets tied to loans and mortgage-linked securities of unknown value. http://www.sellyourhouse.ru/ There have been virtually no buyers of these assets because of their uncertain risk.
