After our Congress was sold on the whole "Catastrophy" story...

No real money has been directed to the very ISSUE THAT CAUSED THIS MESS...Mortgages.

A Problem the Democratic Controlled Congress refused to address.

All that has been done is to throw "lip-service" towards people that made irresponsible choices.

All the rest of us who were/ARE responsible can't even re-finance OUR homes because the value is too low and we make too much money...

Meanwhile OUR Government is throwing our money away re-negotiating loans that have NO HOPE of surviving.

This is going to be ugly for a LONG TIME unless people wake up and DEMAND BETTER from Congress/Senate.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD AT TEAPARTIES AND AT THE POLLS IN 2010.

"NAR President Charles McMillan said, "We need realistic appraisals that are based on proper comparisons and done by a local specialist."

Right. We used to be able to count on the Appraisers to "get the numbers" for us. We work on commission, so they need to "goose" those numbers again, just like they used to before they "Got Jesus".

Totally agree with the first commenter. No mention of all the real estate owned held off the market at present by the banks, nor the continuing unemployment as a further drag on the market.

Totally irresponsible article.

Mr. Mullins,

your article is clearly slanted toward the NAR.

I hope you understand that people considering the purchase of a home will use what you write to justify the purchase now, rather than waiting. Thanks to you people will be throwing hard-earned savings down a rat hole.

Here, take a read: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aLU_yVWfAiFE&ref=patrick.net

The evidence is clear; why are you writing this drivel?

"NAR President Charles McMillan said, "We need realistic appraisals that are based on proper comparisons and done by a local specialist." He also advocated expanding the $8,000 first-time homebuyer tax credit into 2010 and making it available to all buyers of primary residences."

But I have no clout and no information about what action is being taken by anyone in Congress to effect this. Who is the sponsor of this action? What is the status of this action?

Anyone can advocate anything, but who is working to make this happen?

Details is what we need--you know, where the devil lives.
