This is a great website. I think that more people should be aware of what can happen.

Not knowing how to use a fire extinguisher is a poor excuse. Most commerically purchased fire extinguishers come with the instructions and sometimes pictures on the box as well as the extinguisher itself.

All persons, including children, age senitive, should know how to use them. it should take no more than 15 minutes to educate you family. By educating them, you are taking a major step in safe guarding what you cherish, you family.

Believe me, it pays off. My middle son was 7 years old and he and his siblings had gone to work with me on several occassions, I am a safety person and training employees was part of my responsibilities. Long story short, one evening my wife called to ask how long do you have to get the power from the extinguisher off, say the stove. After question ing, a fire started under one of the burners, she paniced, but my son knew the extinusher was in the pantry and proceed to get my wife out of the way and extingusih the fire.
