In the news: Steven Spielberg is looking to raise a cool $1 billion to "reinvent DreamWorks as a separate company that once again owns the movies it makes," according to the Hollywood Reporter.
More interesting (to me), however, is the fact that as Spielberg looks for a new roost for the DreamWorks brand, he'll reportedly also be looking to hang on to his chief, Stacey Snider.
From the Hollywood Reporter:
"Stacey is the next generation, and Steven is very committed to her," said one participant in DreamWorks strategy meetings.
So what is it about Stacey Snider? In the dog-eat-dog world of Tinseltown, how does someone make herself indispensable to such an icon and institution as Steven Spielberg?
Here are four possibilities:
1) Apparently, she knows how to dress for her career.
2) She also knows how to work with difficult people.
3) She'll take a smaller salary for a better job.
4) According to Barry Diller's account, she isn't afraid to cry in a professional setting (a controversial career move if there ever was one, but it seemed to help Hillary Clinton).
