6. Avoid connecting flights whenever possible. Every stop you make compounds the likelihood of trouble.

7. When you are forced to take connecting flights, stay on the same airline. When a late-arriving flight makes you miss your connection, the airline has an obligation to get you to your final destination only if your connecting flight is with them.
