Rachel Maddow: MSNBC's Smart Hire

Rachel Maddow has opened up the world of politics for me due to the fact that she does such great research and finding the core stories that are commonly under reported, or she finds the story behind the story. I like the fact that she is willing to confront and comment upon both sides of the political world without being someones mouth piece but her own.

I saw your show tonight and I saw the segment where you were speaking on the gun rights. First off, have you read the constitution and read the words but not tried to interpret it? It states our rights to bear arms is for KEEPING the government from overthrowing it's people once again. Just as the British did to the Colonist. By allowing the people the right to bear arms for that reason it also allows us the right to bear arms for the purpose to ensure our safety from others as well.

Secondly, have you served in the military? I have. Who has the right to take away what I have fought for? Have you read the 28th ammendment? Congress shall make no laws concerning the people that they themselves shall not also be held to. Why then would Congress be allowed to keep their weapons and why then is Congress exempt from the same Medical Insurance laws as the people? Why not report un biased instead of it being obvious by your words and facial expressions showing where you stand for a chance?

Rachel:

I have often wondered why a large portion of the US population believes that the US Government is incompetent to manage something rather straight forward such as universal health care - when at the same time the majority of the population believes that the Government is perfectly capable of waging wars all over the globe. It seems to me that waging wars might be a bit more complicated than providing health care.

Can you explain that apparent contradiction?

Rachel,

Since the debates over health care began, I have yet to see anyone mention the heath care insurance available to all of the Congressional members.

As the Republicans constantly find fault with Socialist and, I suppose, next the Communists, they have the most remarkable health care in the country.

Even if they leave Congress after a few years, they can keep this insurance for the rest of their lives. I know this because I am a retired Federal employed and have enjoyed the best and the cheapest health care.. Check it out.

Anybody who has "real" life experience does not think, or give this bit*h a moment. DUMB. She is stupid beyond her years. I don't give an "f" about oxford..... nobody really does. Don't fool yourselves.

I knew Rachel was probably, obviously, the smartest host on cable news, with Olbermann a distant 2nd. I just googled her tonite,..and the obviuos was confirmed...a Rhodes scholar with a doctorate in political science from Oxford. Her show may be laced with sarcasm, but politics these days calls for sarcasm, derision, and calling these idiots in D.C. for what they are, a bunch of hypocritical bribee's. Rachel is the best.

Rachel,

I watch you over and over use the word "Democracy" on your TV show. I'm surprised that people that are well read and well educated, use that word in relation to the United States of America. If you ever read the Constitution (any one of the three versions) or the Constitutions of the States of the Union. If you've read much history you would know how vile that word is to the intent of the founders of this country from the very beginning. If you ever heard the Pledge of Allegiance you would know how out of place that word is. I could go on, but I'm not sure whether it would affect you or you misuse of the word as often as you use it. I would suggest you study the word and see if you really want to live in a democracy as opposed to a republic. The lack of knowledge and misuse of words and the concepts attached to them have allowed this country to be conned into the condition that it is currently in economically. We as a country would be closer to intent if we spoke and lived the Republic that we were given by our founding fathers than the Democracy that our Politicians have been selling and providing us with. Read some old dictionaries and encyclopedias to learn the truth behind the difference between the two. As you have pointed out many times, what is said in Washington DC and what is done in DC rarely turn out to be the same and when you include the misuse of words by politicians, the media and law enforcement it it a wonder anyone can find the parking lot or their cars in it. Mr. Obama imposes restrictions against lobbyists in Washington via his first speec to the people and then hires nine of them to his cabinet and associated positions. The new US Treasurer says he is hot on attacking tax cheats yet is one of the country's best know tax cheats who would have certainly gotten away with his indiscretion had it not been for his appointment or the scrutiny attached. It would be nice to have our rights, our republic and real money back and let Obama and his cronies can "keep the change". Hope this doesn't get me put on some politically incorrect watch list or the like. Just a thought or two!

Would love to hear back from you.

Tim
