Interesting post, Liz. Yet community colleges in CA are loathe to hire FT professors. Most teaching is done by part-time lecturers, necessitating 'shuttle teaching' as teachers commute between two or three colleges to make ends meet. I'm guessing these $200K jobs will go away - the CA state budget has a huge deficit that needs to be plugged. Not filling these positions could be just the ticket for Governator Arnold.
