I've always related to men at the office as I do other guys in my life. Things are complex enough - following a protocol that dictates a woman's relationship with men in the office? I don't think so.

I have worked in two fields for most of my life and have been the only woman most of the time. I have always began as the quiet little lady and had to finally take control and use everything I have ever learned to earn respect. In the financial field, I had to have the most knowledge in the office. I am sure I spent much more time than my male colleagues studying everything I could so that I would be at the top of my game.

That has really been the best way for me to earn respect.
