While many unemployed workers will miss the company holiday party this year, former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer found gainful employment just in time to celebrate in the corporate way.
Spitzer, a newly minted freelance columnist for Slate (his first post is here), was in downtown Manhattan last night for the web magazine's seasonal celebration.
The FT's John Gapper shared their brief career chat:
I went over afterwards to ask him how he was enjoying life as a columnist. “It sucks,” he said with a grin. “I used to be governor of New York”.
Of course, I know a few unemployed journalists who sure would appreciate that gig.
