Think she’s making a mistake going after NYT and not letting this blow over (no pun intended). This is going to expose other rumors involving “Miss Vicky” …she has a rep as a “good time” lobbyist. Hear she made other politicians in DC… happy.

The NYT is close to failing, and that will be good news for American journalism. Sad to see this once-respected newspaper go the way of Dan Rather and other "journalists" by letting their liberal opinions so taint their news coverage that they will run anything, true or not, proven or not. I am old enough to have taken journalism classes that taught that "opinions go on the editorial page - facts go on the news pages." Too bad American journalism has lost that core value. I personally hope his lawsuit is so successful that it shuts down the NYT before the next election.

Like the article or not if the reporting of McCain advisers being worried about the perception of her involvement with McCain is true, then there are no false statements to sue for. Perhaps she should track down and sue the McCain advisers? However, I do have one fear. The story claims people involved in the campaign spoke with anonymity as a condition. If this is true and if the NYT is forced to prove this in trial, then they might get stuck between the need to stop a frivolous lawsuit and their ethical responsibility to protect their anonymous sources. If they don't protect those sources, then it would prevent future anonymous sources from talking to the press about potentially important issues. If they can't stop a frivolous lawsuit and settle it could lower their credibility

This incident, and indeed the general bias throughout the election for Barack Obama, is a sad, and very real indication of the deterioration of Journalism, journalistic ethics and objectivity, and the slowly but surely declining morals of Americans in general.
As the people charged with disseminating information, journalists have a sacred duty, as important as any politician's duty, to put the truth before all else, especially political bias. The New York Times have shown that they care nothing for this sacred trust, and they should therefore be punished.

The fatc that the NYT handled the Edwards affair in a much more conservative manner would lend some credibility to assertion that the Times proceeded with some malice towards McCain and Iseman.

Public figures are fodder. Being in the news does not make you a public figure by that alone. News papers may be able to slander public figures with impunity but should not be able to do so with private citizens.

Iseman is right to sue the New York Times for the newspaper's defamatory article about her and Sen. John McCain. McCain should sue as well. The New York Times was shameless in its bias against him throughout the election, most notably when they printed an op-ed by Barack Obama and then refused to print one by McCain. The American people are wronged when a prominent media source such as the New York Times chooses to slant its election coverage in favor of one candidate and against the other. That is particularly true when the candidate not favored is someone as exceptionally qualified as John McCain. To what extent media bias contributed to his defeat we may never know, but the media certainly need to be held accountable for their actions.
