Las Vegas has not been doing so hot during the recession--gaming revenues are down, unemployment is up, home values have taken a major hit. But pessimism isn't really a Vegas trait, and a new development on the strip has 12,000--count em--job openings to prove it.
The new CityCenter "urban metropolis" is expected to open late this year with a gaming resort (with 4,000 rooms), multiple non-gaming hotels (including a Mandarin Oriental), a tower of 2,600 condos, and a half-million square feet of retail and entertainment space.
CityCenter today launched its careers site at www.citycentercareers.com--you'll find applications there.
The company says that jobs will be available in "food and beverage, hotel operations, casino operations, retail management, entertainment, finance, human resources, facilities, security and more."
Some details from CityCenter (a joint venture between MGM Mirage and Infinity World Development Corp, a subsidiary of Dubai World:
- After completing the online application, local applicants will self-schedule an in-person application review; qualified out-of-market applicants will complete their application reviews via telephone
- Interviews for current MGM MIRAGE employees will be scheduled beginning in February; external interviews in April
- Start dates will begin in September, ramping up through December
