The media is doing their normal deal, reporting only what sells papers or gets people stirred up. Reading the US News or any of these "journals" is like watching a reality show. Only show what makes people want to watch more and think they are seeing something real. There were more than 4 big banks that rec'd TARP funds and not all those that got it wanted it. And it came with HUGE strings attached. Like government knows how to budget themselves???? Wake up people !! Do you watch entertainment tonight because of the teasers they throw out at the beginning of the show only to find they exaggerated the story and it was nothing. Pretty much what is going on with the TARP money and the press bashing banks for business as usual. I'm not saying I agree that some of the events are necessary but it's their business not the governments. Let's scrutize government spending a whole lot more. We found out a couple didn't accurately report their earnings and failed to pay taxes how many more do you think there are? Let's stop letting the press run our lives. Do you remember $4 a gallon gas do you think that started the recession...it has snowballed ever since then. People started cutting their spending, less spending less demand for products, less jobs, less jobs means people can't pay their bills, not the banks fault you bought a 900,000 home and couldn't afford it and now you lost your job or your housing market that was already over priced tanked. What did Obama say "everyone has to take some responsibilty"...man people get over yourselves and stop the bashing and stop listening to the news...they love to get your all worked up and it's working isn't it

The Republicans controlled all three branches of the US Government from 2001 - 2007 continued to control the Executive for the next two and continue to control the Federal judiciary and the USSC today. For the first six years Bush got everything he submitted to the Congress, save for the nomination of Harriet Meyers which was blocked by his fellow Republicans without even the courtesy of a hearing.
When it was a Republican Administration handing out the bailout money the Republicans in Congress were all for it. Now that a Democrat is President, they have suddenly decided that was a bad idea. What a surprise!

Up until 2 years ago you freaks had total control of the government for 12 years. For the last 2 years you same freaks had obstructionists in the legislature that did nothing but stop the Democrats from passing legislation that would have prevented all this. Once again, being true to your ignorant roots, you chumps complain about the Dems not getting anything done when the whole time it was YOU standing in the way of progress. Yet you have the nerve to try and pin the blame on a president that hasn't even been in office for a full calendar week.
Like it or not it was a combination of the republiCAN'T party, president George W.(Warcrimes) Bush, your goofy "republican revolution" and even goofier "contract with America" that got us here. Not to mention that intellectually deficent, wanna-be cowboy you zeros disgraced this country with DOUBLED, in 8 short years no less, a national debt that took 220 years to run up before Bush took office.
Before you go railing against President Obama, as I recall we still have troops deployed. Wasn't it you brain dead conserva-lemmings that were having your temper tantrums chanting "you liberals hafta support da president cuz we're at war and ur unamarikan if'n ya dont - hyuk hyuk"...?
Guess what...? We're still at war. Enough said.

The last post is right. The democrats have monkeyed around with the economy so much, it's no wonder it's having in trouble.
The media is our last hope for getting the truth about TARP usage. Even though they supported Obama, he's already pushing them off and crying when they ask him questions. Congress and the White House won't sure won't hold anyone accountable for TARP money.

How could anyone in their right mind try to blame this on the republicans? This has been a Democrat baby since the beginning. They don't care that they are bankrupting the country. If the whole economy goes in the toilet, they get an easy excuse to nationalize a dozen industries - instant socialism. If it works, they get to blame the republicans for causing the problem and act like heroes in the media for saving the country.
Only problem is, it can’t possibly work. When you start to prop up failing companies you destroy market stability.
Destroy the markets, you destroy capitalism.

Only Republicans (Paulson's gang) could possibly have pulled off the bait and switch that was the ADMINISTRATION of Tarp so far. Never thought to tell the recipients they'd have to account for the use of the money? Mercy, what buffooons. Or crooks. Or both.
Thankfully we have a new president.
