Target Layoffs Add to Toll

It's about time, as long as the layoffs are with managers in stores and customer service, especially "guest relations" in MN and WVa offices. These are the departments that bring Target down by treating customers and staff so shabbily. Yes, quote me to the ones who make corporate decisions. If Target sales dropped, this is why!

I am an employee at target. It is the only company I have worked for that thanks you for your work, for coming in early or whatever you do. The store I come from is different from any workplace i have worked. i have been in retail for over 25 years. I am sad for anyone losing their job,but don't believe that it is a simple decision.

I guess at this point I'd rather be treated like a dog and still have a job.

I noticed the low stock at my local store last Sat. the 24th, so I asked the check out person about it who seemed to be a type of manager. She said "We're doing fine". Now a few days later layoffs are announced. I guess she was wrong. I have never seen the stores so deserted at all times of the day and week. I love Target and wish the best for the store through this tough time. Maybe our country needs to end shipping stuff from China so much though, whether we buy it at Walmart OR Target. The world is running low on energy and materials to make all that stuff, plus we need more jobs in the USA.

To add to the comments earlier about Taregt being a great company, is one of the most absolute truths that I know. I currently work for a Target DC but I started there as a lowly temp. From day one, employees there were very respectful, courtious and helpfull. It's not just the company as a whole nor is it in the policies and rules. It's the kind of ppl they bring in and in the way that not only just the meger employees but also the management and supervisors that instill a sense of belonging and teamwork that makes Target a great place to work. Even though I've only been employed with them for a year, everyone there treats me with kindness and respect, which is something of a rarity with some of the other sompanies I've worked for. I can proudly say that I really love working for Target.

I worked for Target for many years...I saw allot of change in the years Yes the 90's were the best years. The later part of the 90,s and the year of 2000 the corporation took over and some of the management team that they pushed on team members. They are more then happy to fire or force team members that have been dedicated loyal hard working that have been with the company a long time to retire or quit.

They can pay young kids, part timers for there starting wage, that do not need benefits. It was put to me this way:

We can” Hire two people for what they were paying you."

Hire college graduates for management work them 50 hrs a week, That is no problem except these people are making less then I was and people that have met there caps. We can only work 40 hrs a week if working 50hrs, time and a half then we would make more then the new hired managers. Why keep people with experience, that are dedicated, loyal. Use your imagination. It the Target way! If it hasn’t happened to you it will. Or you are kissing A big time.

I work for Target and I have to say I am treated great. I receive daily praise from the Team Leads on up to our Exec Team Lead. Everyone is in a good mood even though we all work very hard.

Target is making changes to survive this economy, but I believe they are going to get through it.

I have to agree with one of the statements made about Target, they Do treat employees well. That is, if you are hard working. The only people ive seen treated bad are those that deserve what they get. You dont work hard, show up for work, then youve made your own bed~ lay in it.

I worked for wal-mart and Kmart in the past, those two companies DO treat people very bad and corporate could care less about anyone that is not in a high management position.

I worked for Target a few years ago and it wasn't that great. I now work for Wal Mart and it's about the same. Layoffs are bad anytime.
