Why Lily Ledbetter is Controversial

"not good" that is the most ridiculous comment I've heard on this topic. It's people who call equality "discrimination" who always stand in the way of progress. This article also claims that this law will hurt future employees. Another peculiar claim. This law will help future female employees by ensuring they're getting paid an equitable wage. The notion that women employees don't count as "future employees" is part of the mentality that got us here in the first place...the mentality that women don't count fully or equally. Not only that, we end up paying as a society through our taxes when women cannot support themselves and their children adequately. The best thing we can do for our society is make sure that women are secure, productive, and not excessively dependent. Lily Ledbetter is to be commended for her courage.

The only result of this will be pay discrimination against men, since that's the only way companies can hedge against these frivolous lawsuits. This is a terrible law which further cements the status of men as second class citizens.

Bush and the rest of the opponents are doing so based exclusively on racist and sexist bigotry. Everything they are saying to justify their actions is dishonest spin.
