Congress Battles Over Automatic Pay Raises

Why are these criminals allowed to run this country? They are stealing from us to make themselves rich. They go to DC to serve themselves not to help this country. They don't care. They gave themselves 2 pay raises in 2009 and COLA for their retired. I served this country for 21 + years and what do I get. NOTHING. NO COLA for the retired military. Where did it go? INTO THEIR POCKETS. They don't deserve anything. They are there to work for the citizens of this country and if they have a problem with that, they should be automatically FIRED, just like their automatic pay raises. If you can't do your job the way it's suppose to be done, your out of there. They're just a bunch of freeloaders. In other words, worthless.

It's time for a whole new crew that will work for us. It's time to pull the plus and turn on the garbage disposal and flush.

There is a process called "Impeachment" that can be used, so, why don't we use it, and start at the top?

Just received my social security statement of monthly benefits for 2010: 000000000000000000000000. That's right no cost of living adjustment; and Congressional delegates have the nerve to ask for increase in wages. Our problem is we elect the same representatives and senators election after election. Yes that's right, whatever happens in Wash. is citizens fault. Wake up America let's give others a chance at the big money, retirement benefits, big pensions, health benefits, etc. Oh, by the way I got my notice about the $250 hush money will be coming my way! I just my send it back! Why add to our existing federal deficit!

Disgusted with Congress!

We need third party in Congress!

I would like a list of the votes for or against the pay raise and also for those who did away with the automatic COLA raise. This would be a nice starting place for the members we should vote out of office.

How could Congress possibly pass a pay raise for themselves this year when they are not giving Cost of Living raises for others. I am willing to give the COL up in these difficult times. Also, I do not want Pres. Obama's $250 one time check. Typical of Congress to tuck this in another bill. I don't like sneeks and have no respect for them. Believe it or not this is a pay raise. Let's get rid of the members of Congress if they vote for this.

"Daniel Inouye told NBC's First Read: "Most Americans will tell you that when they do receive a pay adjustment to their wages, they do not consider that to be a pay raise.""

I don't know what planet he's living on, but most people I know who get a "pay adjustment to their wages" that goes up, consider it a pay raise....

The company I work for just renegotiated my contract to decrease my wages while my work remains the same. I expect my government officials to do the same. NO AUTOMATIC PAY RAISES!

Perfect timing on this content. Take a look at the new site launched just last week www.revoltwithyourvote.com . It states in part "Incumbents Are Obsolete." The votes we cast in 2012 WILL make a difference. If you agree and want to see real change brought about in Washington, then I invite you to join this new, grassroots movement today.

We need to send a message to all levels of government by voting OUT the incumbents in ALL future elections. The elected representatives will know We the People are serious in what we expect of them. This group of losers we currently got polishing their chairs with their butts have only one thing on their mind, THEMSELVES.

I get physically ill when I think of how they've squandered away our children's (and their children's) future to satisfy their greed.

Vote 'em out!!

Must be nice to have the comfort of knowing that every year one wil be given an automatic pay raise. I am in full agreement with Sen. Vitter and I'm a Democrat. Why shouldn't the members of Congress have to present their case as to why they feel they should get a pay raise? In the real world (something most of them are no longer a part of), a person gets a pay raise based on their performance and contributions, so based on that assumption the members of Congress would be getting a pay decrease or pay freeze due to their mediocre performance and anger filled contributions!

As constituents, WE vote them in to their office/position and WE pay their salaries, so as constituents WE should have the ability to hear why they feel they deserve a pay raise.

It just goes to show that they have no idea what WE THE PEOPLE are going through during these economic times. The company I work for has put a freeze on all salary increases as a measure to save costs during this recession and if I'm not mistaken, isn't the "company" of the United States government in debt up to their ears?? With the unemployment rate at its highest in almost 20 years, it is appalling to even think that members of Congress get a pay raise without even having to ask for one. Yet they are the first ones to belittle companies asking for bailout money to help them so they don't have to lay off any more of THEIR constituents!!!!

It's not just the greed of Wall St. that has made Main St. suffer but also the greed of Capitol Hill.
