Nice article Liz. Don't forget to refer people to LINKUP.com, we are still providing almost half million jobs that are never advertised outside of a company's own website. Very valuable for most job seekerns.

Great post Liz. I would agree that one of the most important things is to "do something" during your search. Volunteering with a nonprofit is a great use of your time and can often lead to new networking connections (even in the for profit world).

You can find worthy nonprofits and causes on websites like VolunteerMatch, WiserEarth and Change.org.

Great information in this post. I do a lot of job search coaching and I can say that the number one thing that the successful job seeker does is to 'stay open'. By that I mean, check into everything, even if something is not a good fit it can be the resource to a good contact on your next step. Stay open to new networks, new companies, new careers, new possibilities. Do not close a door and success will come.
