Congress Talks Unemployment Extensions and Hiring Tax Credit

All Politicians seem to just think about what goes in there pockets. I wonder what they would do if they were one of us people out of work and begging for help to continue to get unemployment benefits. They are so lucky to get paid benefits, and are going to be all set when they retire because us the people made that possible for them. Its all our moneys that have made them well off and get goog health care the best in fact while we struggle to live minute to minute. And also all our soldiers out there fighting for us to have a better life and all the ones who have died for us. I bet there are not too many politicians that have family in the service to fight for freedom. Think about what you are doing because I have always said that what comes around goes around. Please help us if you have any good in you.

if congress does not extend benefits until the end of the year I will be living under a bridge. What really gets to me is the fact That I know dozens of people who have been on behefits for over 2 and a half years! I have been on benefits since ag of 09 and now they tell me no more benefits even though I was told twice by the same offie i was ok until aug. Makes no sense and i will be homelss while other people who got extensions through Aug get their benefits. I have children is anybody going to help us in the senate for God's sake. PLEASE

I am 55 years old, been in sales all my life but going back to school for 911 dispatch I fall/winter 2010 as no one is hiring sales people. I have been out of work for a year this month and now will need to make a mid-life career change to keep my home. I have already filed bankruptcy with my husband and gone through the frustrating process to get Making Homes Affordable. If EUC is not extended past June to end of year I will lose my home anyway. I do not understand that a short sale can be done for another family but the government and banks will not drop the principal for the homeowner. I have a STANDARD 30 year mortagage and done everything right....paid taxes, worked hard and tried to save. Now that money is almost depleted with nothing to fall back on. Greed from Wall Street and Banks have caused this and they get bailed out! What happens to those of us who need help right now? It is true, the rich get richer and the poor shafted in the end. Please, please give us the additional 99 weeks until we can find work or complete new career schooling.

Sincerely,

Naomi Colter

I also got laid off in October 2008 and ran out of unemployment. I am a skilled tradesman (millwright) and can't even get a half descent paying job. Most places want to pay minimum wage and want highly skilled people to fill these jobs. I left Delphi thinking it was going to close. Now I wish I would have stayed. Thanks to globalization here also. If a good paying job opens up there's hundreds of workers after one or several jobs. WE need are jobs returned back to US. The Hell with China. Lets pay them off and tell them to keep the junk that they make. NO MORE TAX Breaks for company s taking their factories over seas. Keep them here. Also we (This country) need to start making foreigners who come over here and buy up store and businesses and don't pay taxes for what 7 years. They need to paying taxes right away. I and the rest of us U.S.A. citizens pay taxes as soon as we start working. IT"S NOT FAR TO US U.S.A. citizens.

Im a union laborer for Local 1076 for 18 years. I cant remember ever being off for more than a month or 2 at the worst. I've been off for a year and a half! I got laid off in october of 2008. We were on a huge commercial job in West Bloomfield and we were getting ready to go to 6 days a week. Two days later the general contractor came around to all the trades and told us they were folding the job and we have 2 days to get all our equipment off the job. They couldn't get a loan for 360,000,000.00. Needles to say their is no commercial work in michigan. I've called every company in michigan and I get the same line that "Were not doing anything". So let me tell anyone who thinks that were all just setting here just relaxing and living off our unemployment. You try living off 762. every other week.

how can you say something like that when many people have lost jobs due

something beyond their control.I've did eveything in my power to find a decent paying job ,but there simply is not much left to salvage.the comment made by the guy from georgia shows he's an out of touch idiot.dont think the shoe cant get on the other foot.let him get a taste of losing almost everything!

My job as an engineer was outsourced to someone in China. So, I've been off work for over a year. Your comment about being a "loser" is way off base. Why don't you come up to Michigan and make that statement in a public place, where some of the unemployed can give you their point of view? Tell the people losing their homes because they can't find a job or exist on unemployment that they aren't trying to help themselves regain their dignity. It's easy to be mouthy and oppinionated over the internet. Looks to me like you have a job. Lets see if your so self confident and arrogant if you lose it. I guess that makes you a potential "loser" if that should happen. Most likely if that happened to you, the "hand out" would be viewed differently.
