Unemployment Extension to Get Senate's Attention Next Week

I am 49, will be 50 this year. Have never had a problem finding a really good, well paying job. I was laid off in Sept of 08, and can't get a job for the life of me. I ran out of benefits 3 weeks ago, have been looking since the beginning for a job, now any job, and I am too qualified, or too old (although they don't say that of course). Republicans saying we are spoiled and should get entry level jobs- guess what- they won't hire us at entry level jobs because they all know as soon as the economy gets better and a better paying job comes up, people will leave. We are in a lose, lose situation. If I don't get a job soon, or a tier 5 doesn't come through for ALL states, I don't know what I will do. I am single, so no significant other to help out, and I'll die before I live on the streets. I have been a hardworking, productive person all my life, have raised two grown children, and now I am tossed away like I am nothing. It's very disheartening, and I don't know how it's going to end. People that made 100K a year are competing for $12/hr call center jobs. Employers want the youngest, most qualified people for the least amount of money. I have applied EVERYWHERE. I have made it through the process of the first interview a few times, but then when they ask what I used to make, they don't call back. I tell them the amount doesn't matter, I just want a good fit, they don't care. God help us, if this doesn't end soon...

I have a interstate claim and the state that it is from thier Senator is doing everything in his power to make it hard on the people who still needs help. I started school , about 9 months ago doing what the President said educate myself in order to get a better job, I live in GA. But , I recieve my unemployment from NE. and the sad thing is that I ,have been working for over 30 years and only drown unemployment once and now it has run out and it looks like I will quiting school to do what I have to do to support my family. What a waste of time for me when you have people that are suppose to be looking out for you and the only thing they are looking out for is how the look to certain people in ther states talking about the senator from NE how is the people that has been unemployed the longest needs no help what in the world is wrong with him and anyone else that feels that way. Lord help them to do what is right and the right things is to help those who are in need . We are helping everyone else in the world why not the people who help build this country served in the armed force fought for this land on the only thing we can get is we are sorry , but you do everything to help someone who just come here to escape from what ever and that's makes me very angry. They want to find out where to get the money from to do this try the aid that we give to all these other countries to help them get on ther feet. What do you think about that idea .

my benefits will run out jan.3 2010 and i too will lose my home if they don't extend unemployment soon!

The extension of unemployment has passed but benifits will end in December for many due to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provisions expiring and so the extension only helps thoose who have or will have exhausted their benifits by December 2009. I myself and many others will run out of benifits in January and will not be eligible to recieve the extension that passed in November Does anyone know if Congress is working to extend the ARRA before December is over?????????

acorn was on the same bill when that was removed it passed . my question why was acorn on the same bill . not a good idea

why of MI 9:55PM November 15, 2009

I have voted rep. since the day I turned 18. Now I hear they are the ones holding up this bill. My last claim is this Sunday and after that money is gone , I dont know what I will do. I can not pay my rent without this money, and I have searched for work and cannot find anything. We need the governments help, and we need it now. Before millions of americans who would work given the opportunity are homeless.
