I've been absolutely appalled to look on as the Republican Party has repeatedly delayed a vote on the benefits extension while their fellow Americans experience severe hardship. This is politics at it's worst. Shades of Stalin and the Soviet famines of the 1930s.

That will be great if they did give checks for those who went without anything for many weeks, but that might be asking for too much. I'm just thankful we're close to getting thisextension now!!

If this has effected you or a loved one over the past couple months do not forget who held up the passage. Make sure you vote against each republican that held this bill up. Give them a taste of their own medicine the next election.

My benefits run up mid Jan. I feel for you all that have been shorted the past couple months.

I am happy the Senate has decided to finally get up and do what is right for so many people out of work. The real problem remains and that is the Senate Leadership. While I really do not like to go after Dems, it has become apparent that we need a leader who can get these Dems in line. We need to get rid of Harry Reid (even if he does lose his seat in Nevada) and get Chuck Schumer in. Chuck is the hardest working Senator anywhere, even Hillary couldn't keep up with him. Chuck Schumer for Majority Leader! Out with Reid. This bill should have passed months ago. Easily done had Reid kept to his threats and kept the Senate in session until it was a done deal instead of playing to the GOP. Wait 30 hours and then get rid of him.
