"Institutional Leveraged Senior Secured Floating Rate Investments?"

Sounds like a dead hot air balloon for senile senior citizens to me.

Sent from my Blackberry on the clothing-optional planet of real estate investment trysts.

GUARANTEED ANNUITY IS AN OXY YOU MORON! 12:02AM September 24, 2011

Campbell fails to mention that Non Public REITS and Variable Annuities pay big commisions$$. I wonder what his compensation structure with clients is. Also fails to mention that Variable Annuities charge an extra fee for the Guaranteed Withdrawal Benefits(as they are known in the industry) that can run 1-2% on top of Mortality and Expense fees and sub-account fees. Total annual fees may be over 3%. That's a pretty large expense drag. And who guarantees that income payout? The insurance company. Better read that contract Kelly, its full of loopholes. One last thing is that you are usually limited in terms of the risk tolerance of the portfolio. Usually a moderate allocation(50/50 stocks to bonds) at best. So much for the "market driving the account up" with a portfolio that would be expected to return 5-7% in normal market conditions and a 3%+ expense drag. True that income stream would go up, but not by that much.

As for REITS, most have a lock up period that can be as long as 7-10 years. Ask anybody who bought one of these things 5-6 years ago how they're doing. More importantly, ask them if they are still valued at the $10 NAV/Unit price that they paid for it. Worst part is that they are stuck.

How can this guy call REITS and Variable Annuities "fixed income investments"? They are equity investments. You invest your money and your rate of return is variable. Campbell needs to check his terminology.

Not what I would recommend for someone who is coming out of a CD.
