I am a single woman who has had 4 retail business' in the past but through divorce and health issues have found myself having to live on social security and welfare and I hate it!!!!Prehaps the reason I am in this "GAP" in my life is because God wants me to use the talents he gave me for his good....and the following is what has been put on my heart to do,by the way when one gets to the bottom of their life and fall into the "GAP" then you become ----God's Availiable People----and he will begin to show you your purpose. Through the experience of being on welfare a need for housing, food, medical care and just plain encouragement and someone to believe in me as a person with value, as a result of these needs I want to help women between age of 45 and 65+ who want to rebuild their lives after loosing everything. It is very unfortunate but, our welfare system dose not look kindly on older citizens. My intention is to start a second hand store to help boost the locals to purchase slightly used clothes, furniture, household items, dishes ect. many people are shopping this way now, so the funds from this will help build the Alpha and Omega Center to house and feed the Forgotten Grandmothers. I need some one who can help me set up a non-profit status and seed money to start if you are out there let me know how to contact you....!

When you think about it we all are already in busiess when we sell our services to an employer we are ding business as ourselves. however, we limit ourselves when we commit to work for someone exclusively. As an employee we limit ourselves and our skills to a sinlge relationship, a single customer (the employer). However, if we run our lives and skills as a independant contractor we can expand our horizon and experiences to include everyone that needs our services. As a true entreprenuer we organize our thoughts, actions and skills to build a business that will not limit our skills to a single customer. We present ourselves to the world for a world of possibilities. In my opinion there is never a bad time to start fulfiulling your gioals or expandingin your client base. In a bad economy we become successful when we offer products and or services that will solve the problems that plague us. We need people to start businesses to foster our economy. There is no time better to start your business, accept the challenges as a part of growth and experience. Once you are able to start your business without looking at the global circumstances we rise ablove the fear and go for it. It is your time, don't be afraid because of what you hear, see, or feel. Release your greatness.
Sincerely
Richard Smith

Interesting read...I just found an interview of a CEO of a business development firm who say the economy is BS. And in fact, it is not only a good time, but the BEST time, to start a business in a rough economy. You can call BS on his opinion even here: http://downtobusiness.com/bs-meter/start-business-bad-economy/

I'm trying to start a Stor N Lok Business in my home town of about 2000 people. Web Site(jes21stornlok.com) of Yahoo.com Of all business that ya'll speak about these Storage Companies are one the hottest businesses on the rise. What I want to do here in town can be a one man run buiness. All the work around these buildings wouldn't take much time of my day. The business is right across from my house so security is covered. I have 10 good understandable reasons why my business would succeed an go forward with success. It's crazy how I say this but (It's GOD that has me stopped. It's only him that can make the next move for me. I've done all I could to go forward. I'm just waiting for someone to come forward themself on helping go with it). What puts a hole in my head is I have Epilepsy an I need that help from a Company to go futher. Being just on Federal Funds I can't get any backing for a Loan and have been trying 3 years off all Grants an nothing has gone forward with that without hurting me with needing money I don't have once again. In a way I need to find a CEO/Pres/V.Pres or top man of a big company that has an family member with Epilepsy. Or a major Investor of some company that would read this. WHY? Because maybe one of those people have a family member in their life with Epilepsy and understand more of what I'm trying to say or what I'm talking about. There are a lot of people in this world not happy they having to wake up in the morning an go to work. And I'm fightin to find a way to find something or someone that would finally come through in helping me go forward with this project or business. This is in southwest Louisiana where there have been 3 hurricanes in the last 3 years now. Hurricane Rita in 2005 and Hurr. Gustav & Ike here in 2008. That is 3 other reasons why this business would succeed with itself. The way all the people need them so harshly to store thing away more for harsh times. How am I ever to find a business partner? If I could find one to maybe make it easier. To walk into what I want to do. Get back in touch with me with an E-Mail or get on web site and get more info to find out plenty more.

I have to say, if you're launching in this economy you need all the help you can get - this site, http://www.scrappyupstarts.com - is looking for "scrappy" entrepreneurs and start ups to tell their story - there's a forum for bartering services - great, free way to show off your site and startup idea.

For sake of disclosure, I work with Clark University's Innovation & Entrepreneurship program. I feel there is an important thread missing from this article: the role of young entrepreneurs in our economy.
Formal research may show that the job seekers are at the manager+ level, but we're seeing more and more college graduates start their own companies days after graduation - many, while they are still in school. Academicians and career counselors are playing vital new roles - as business mentors and advisors.
When entrepreneurial education becomes a foundation for all college coursework, and college students are taught that entrepreneurship is much more than VC funding, we'll really experience the impact of entrepreneurs on our economy.
Find out how America’s best companies are succeeding by tapping big data, mobile solutions, social media, and crowdsourcing to adapt and compete in an increasingly connected world.
