Just as Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture style blended with the environment, so does the new economy businesses need to blend with the new economy. By substituting renewables for consumables, conserving for consuming, and efficiency for waste, business can blend into the new economy using modern techniques reducing overhead and increasing profitability. I.E. Skylights vs. electric lights, LED lighting vs. Flourescent, CFLs vs. Incandescent, HE appliances vs. >20 year old energy hogs, alternatve energy vs. oil based... While not all new devices provide an immediate tangible return the life-cycle returns are substantial. Flexible labor rules can reduce manpower overhead and converting manual or paper communications to electronic email or video conferencing can further reduce overhead. I have found great success from a simple $50 webcam purchase to facillitate my business dealings without incurring travel expenses even if only to an in town meeting. As our new economy provides new opportunities they can be realized to a greater extent by everyone simply trying to blend!!!
