Great tips for making your franchise successful. Doing the research before you purchase a franchise business is the key factor and best advice of all, would like to recommend this website http://www.franchisefordads.com , I found my franchise business on this site, great site with a lot of advice to help you start up.

This artcle is "right on the money" in what to ask the franhisor.

I have an expanded list which incorporates these points.

Regarding item 19, "earnings". While most franchisors do not want to get into that arena, many franchise consultants are able to come up with a good financial model for every franchise through other means, usually from existing franchisees.

This makes for great play-you can project low and high and various scenarios with different debt strutures. If you are not well versed in these matters, try www.mrfranchiseman.com, or submit your question in his free seminar

(Remember, consultants also want to earn a living, so be prepared just like you would with your ccountant or lawyer!)

A non-profit service called OpenFran.org came online in 2008. It offers those researching a franchise the ability to search and download thousands of franchise documents at no charge. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has listed OpenFran on their franchising information page.
