4 Cellphones for Seniors

My mother has a difficult time seeing with only one that partially has vision. I needed to find her a phone with large buttons and number read out. I found the Cenior for $59.95 at yippz.com . She does not use her phone often, just for emergencies while she’s out. I got her the H2O minute plan for $100 for one year. That works out to $8.33 a month. It’s perfect for her. The phone is unlocked and you can use any GSM carrier you choose. No Contracts! This phone can talk the numbers back to you and it has a built in flash light as well as magnifier.

Sorry, Snapfon!

I just bought the Snap-phone for my 89 yr old mother. Large buttons, very simple, with docking station.

For those of us living on Social Security I find the phones are too expensive plus the user fees All I want is a simple one for emergencies no bells and whistles. At the present I am using Virgin Mobile pay-as- you go but that company is also changing the model I use. I am not tech savvy - the simpler the better. Please - better colored keys - I don't use while driving but if I pull into a free space I want to be able to see the keys.

I want a simple phone, but with text (large) nice volume, Camera and video and long battery life. Which is the best one for this.

Large numbers/buttons are important .

@Maddie, I recently bought a Tracfone aimed at seniors, called Senior Value Cellphone, and it did NOT cost any more than other Tracfones of the same level. The minutes are the same too. Am I missing something?

Megan of NY 2:31PM January 30, 2012

For years I've used Tracfone, for emergencies and minor conversations. Now my spouse has one and simply is very frustrated by operating the thing. I object to them now offering simplified phones for seniors at excessive rates. Why can't Tracfone (and other pre=paid servers) offer a simple phone at the same rates now used for their other customers. WHY should seniors; pay more; I would agree to paying more for the phone itself, but the use after that. Talk about discrimination.

I meant to type "I agree to pay more for the phone itself, but the fees for use after that should be the same cost as for other customers."
