4 Cellphones for Seniors

@Maddie, I recently bought a Tracfone aimed at seniors, called Senior Value Cellphone, and it did NOT cost any more than other Tracfones of the same level. The minutes are the same too. Am I missing something?

For years I've used Tracfone, for emergencies and minor conversations. Now my spouse has one and simply is very frustrated by operating the thing. I object to them now offering simplified phones for seniors at excessive rates. Why can't Tracfone (and other pre=paid servers) offer a simple phone at the same rates now used for their other customers. WHY should seniors; pay more; I would agree to paying more for the phone itself, but the use after that. Talk about discrimination.

I meant to type "I agree to pay more for the phone itself, but the fees for use after that should be the same cost as for other customers."

I hate to sterotype but I think it's safe to say that with elders, simpler is better. The simplest phone is the senior svc trackphone. It's also the least expensive. That kind of value makes it the best choice for most elders. Thanks.

These are great phones in terms of features but not really when it comes to price. I agree with Karen of FL. The phones listed above are way too pricey. The SVC phone is an affordable choice but the Just5 Easyphone offers more practicality. This phone is both practical in features and in price actually. I highly recommend this one. More details about the manufacturer of this phone can be seen here: http://www.just5.com/story.php?story=1907201100303085122280&page=blog

SVC is not for me. Too simple. Crude and no features. No qwty keypad or touch screen. No apps. No wifi.

But for an old guy who never had a phone before, this is a good idea. Cheap too and good for safety and emergencies.

How about a cell phone with only calling and camera and clear voice for an 85 year old?

E.T.Beerman of SC 6:50AM June 17, 2011

The phones listed above for seniors are way too pricey. I think TracFone SVC is a much better option and the price is definitley right at $15 for the phone and less than $10 for the monthly service. The phone is as basic as they come but for this demograpihc, it's perfect. Most seniors I know are not too keen on technology. It took me a while to convince my grandma to accept a phone from me as a gift and i finally did it with TracFone SVC b/c it's so cheap that granny doesn't feel it will make an impact to my pocket! It gives me such a great peace of mind to know that she's witin reach.

Those that mention TracFone's SVC have a good point. The price is right and if you ae need seeking all the bells and whistles, this phone's simplicity and price might make it the top choice.

I dont understand why anyone would pay $150-200 for one of these phones. My grandma has already lost her phone twice, thank goodness she was smart enough to only pay $20 for her phone with Tracfone.
