Actually, iTunes is mostly DRM-free. There are some songs that are not, but for the most part Apple/iTunes has switched the online store to 256 kbps, DRM-free "iTunes Plus" music. And if you look at the Terms of Use from Apple as compared to Amazon, you actually OWN you music when you buy it from Apple, as opposed to the restrictions placed on you with the music purchased from Amazon.

Using iPhone without using Apple's iTune store wouldn't make much sense, but songs from iTune store are DRM-protected. Otherwise, the iPhone is awesome.

Speaking of DRM-free music, Amazon does have an awesome MP3 store that is DRM-free with a large selection and often good prices. (It would be nice if Amazon had the same thing with Kindle books.) If Apple could also move in that direction, it would be perfect!

On the note about Amazon, I recently came across an interesting table that details the discounts on Amazon.

It is at http://www.uberi.com

Maybe someone will find it useful too. PC World has also recently recommended it to its readers.

Next stop, a touch-screen netbook without keyboard from Apple. :) So the rumor has it anyway.

as an iPhone killer, otherwise it would have been killed already

attention all major handset manufacturers:

its time to innovate, no IMITATE.

apple have got it right, nuff said

Stop saying the next iPhone killer is around the corner, as far as I'm concerned, there will never be an iPhone killer phone. There might be a runner-up, but not a killer. The iPhone is years ahead of most competition and certainly the most popular among young people. The Pre certainly "looks" like a decent competition phone, but we will have to wait and see how it actually holds up. I think of it like those cool "concept" cars that never really materialize or at best, come to production looking totally different (old aged). Lets wait and see. How you would like to be on call in public attached to your ear a phone that has been titled the "iPhone killer"?? I'll be looking at you and be saying, look at them....with a wanna be iphone killer phone. :) Good luck and enjoy your iPhone killer.

It might be in 6 months, but all Palm showed in January was a technology demo. Palm isn't saying what features will actually be present on the final shipping device, simply because they aren't close to completing development yet.

Why not also include WinME 6.5 handsets, which also won't be available for more than six months?

and I still can't get a fart app for my Blackberry. Man are we behind the times.

HTC's new Touch Pro 2 is definitley the best contender to take on the iPhone. Looks to do what iPhone can do and addresses the con's of the iPhone (i.e. landscape texting, full qwerty, ...)

After having Windows-based phones for years, I bought the T-Mobile G1 last week. It's SOOO much better!! Of course the first app I downloaded from Android Market was "FART MACHINE" (it even has a timer for surprise fart attacks!)......But Android is the future, perhaps the iPhone killer!
