A lot of public sector consulting firms were shielded from the drop in salaries/bonuses, from my take on it, which probably skews the data. But, regardless, consulting firms, just like any other, know the value of keeping top talent (and their client relationships).

Conservative, but accurate salaries. I just joined with a boutique in Asia-Pacific after my MA from Oxbridge. It varies widely.

$125,000 after 8 years? must be a really, really, REALLY small boutique kind of management consulting firm. 1st year out of MBA hires at McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Bain, or even Deloitte make $160,000 to $220,000. My sources: I'm in it!

Horribly innacurate salaray figures! I'm a first year consultant who joined after grad school and I'll make about double the alleged mean for (8 years in) consultants in my first year.
If you stick with it and are at a legitimate firm you'll be making 7 figures in less than ten years. Actually the model is 10 years and 10x (i.e. in your make 10 times what you started at after working for 10 years)
You can extrapolate from what I'm making now...

There are not many strict requirements to become a management consultant, are there any (other than good grades at a good college) that would make a prospect more desirable? As a high school student with this in mind as a career it is important for me to fully understand what i need to be successful.

WAY MORE LUCRATIVE THAN THESE LOW FIGURES AFTER 8 YEARS EXPERIENCE.

b.s. job based on buzzwords and smooth talking. the scope of this field in the coming recession is limited. finance is dead. i got layed off a year ago and haven't found work, luckily i married a pediatrician and we have a stable income, but i regret not going into med school :)
