I am studying Urban and Regional Planning at AAU_EiABC in Ethiopia. Ethiopia has so many problems that calls on planning/planners regarding urbaniization, transportation and housing problem. But there is so no special attention and consideration is given to the department as it hep them solve the problems. So I want to know the profession , how it works outside the country and how much it is necessary internationally.

am currently studying urban and regional planning at the university of Lagos in Nigeria. Nigeria is a country that has so many problems on environmental and physical planning. still, much consideration is not giving to the urban and regional planning profession. that is why i have been trying to know more about this profession in other countries, and am so proud to hear this. also i would love to know more about post-graduate degrees on this profession or that relates to it in other countries.

I'm planning to get a Master in Urban Planning. I love this field and can't wait to study something that I really like to. Currently I study Public Administration as a undergraduate student in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

As a planner for approximately 7 years, I have worked in both the public and private sector. I love the multi-tasked and multi-disciplined role of the planner and I truly feel that I have finally found my calling.

However, I am very disheartened with the number of jobs available in this field and very concerned that while I love my career choice and the work that I have been fortunate to do in the past is not good enough to sustain me.

After the federal stimulus funding ran out, so did the work and now I have been left in the dust, that is laid off, exhausting all unemployment, and facing the reality that after three degrees (including a masters in urban planning) and 10+ years of college coursework, I believe that I must return to school to for a fourth degree to further specialize in the field of planning.

As a favor to those reading this website....tread lightly and choose wisely.
