Best-Kept-Secret Career: Orthoptist

Back to article

An orthoptist is not an MD, but does take national board exams to become a CO (certified orthoptist). There are no online courses in the US and there are currently less than 10 programs in the US accepting students for the 2 year training program. An orthoptist does study orthoptics which includes treatment of binocular visual disorders. An orthoptist also studies pediatric ophthalmology in depth. It is truly a rewarding career!
