College is supposed to teach you how to think, not to collect or accumulate facts. Having a degree does not mean that you were taught how to think. You should be able to figure a way to turn your degree into a way to feed yourself. I am a med mal claims guy - I never studied med mal claims in college. I was an x ray tech then a paralegal. So I had some medicine and law and picked up insurance knowledge, and a way to feed myself. the colege degree gives you intellectual credibility and evidence that you are determined. It doesnt mean that you are smart. Dont waste your degree on flipping burgers- move to where the jobs are.

I should have stayed at my aircraft mechanic job. Going back to college was a huge waste of time and money. Even with a 3.4 gpa I can't find one job. All the stupid requirements and prereqs employers have these days make everything just out of reach. I guess I'll be taking my physics & chemistry degree to Burger King for a job. I'll take anything to keep my home from foreclosing, even an over-rated one.

Everyone here needs to google the article by Greg Stanley called "The Sustainability of Chiropractic", it best describes the current plight of the profession!

If anyone is still stupid enough to enroll into chiropractic school after reading that article, then they deserve to end up like Charlie Sheens TV brother Allen in the sitcom "2 and a half men"!

I love being a professor, what is more, a professor of the Humanities, and resent your ignorant appraisal of our profession. Teaching college-age students is invigorating, creative, and a life-long prod to continue learning. Think again!

It is important to point out that the "physicians" listed to in this article are generally referring to primary care physicians/internists. Many other specialties, such as radiology, ophthalmology, anesthesiology, dermatology, emergency medicine, and plastic surgery, still have a fairly cush lifestyles making $300,000+ per year.

It's most surprising for us here to learn that teachers are not paid, when the school is out for summer vacations !

Here in Russia teachers are paid their normal average salaries, while they are on leave: from June , even May till September 1st.

How do they expect a teacher should make both ends meet, while there no classes at school ? Or it is just none of anybody's business ?

Yes, everyone wants to be a teacher. You get to work 15 hour days, 7 days a week for 10 months. Then you get to plan for 6 hours a day for two months so you can do it again for the next 10 months. It's not a job, it's a calling. Anyone who tells you different should have their head examined. Oh, did I mention, no paid holidays? Yep, we only get paid for the days we actually teach. If school is out, we don't get paid.
