Mukhtar, one thing I want to ask you is "do you really want to become a doctor?" I have a brother who wanted to become a dentist. Well, when he took advanced physics he got a D- and failed another math class and gave up. So my question to you is, do you really know the road in front of you to become a doctor?

I would suggest that you visit your family doctor and find out what some of the classes doctors have to take in school and what can prepare you to be successful.

Also, it would be beneficial to visit a school that teaches medicine. However, if you love science, and do well in math, you may have the aptitude to become a doctor. If you don't well, take a test or tests to find out your strengths or weaknesses so you can better assess what educational path you would like to embark. There is no shame in taking "art," but if you want to do something else, well there are many options open for you!

Let me tell you a secret, Idalia. You are never too old or too young to learn. If you don't know what you would like to do, go to a school and ask for a test to learn your strengths and weaknesses. Then decide what classes and/or courses you would like to start with. From my experience, don't allow anyone not even your father tell you that you that its a waste of time, you are not bright enough to learn. If you feel that you want to go to school, then do it!

I had a student in my prek class who loved computers. True, this student was not interested in learning academics, but if he continues, may be a future computer engineer or someone who may invent new ways of using our computers.

In summary, go ahead with your dream! I hope that you will email me and if I can be of any further assistance, email me.

When i was 16 my dad took me out of school and made me help him pursue HIS dream of having his own factory. But things got bad and nothing worked out for him or his so called "factory".when this happened I asked him to let me go back to school but he said I wasnt smart enough and that he didnt want to waste his money on me. Now I´m 18 and I´m scared I´ll end up like him and my family: poor and with nothing to give my children. Plus at the age I´m at its not easy to find a job to pay for my school and that will leave me time to GO to school. I live alone now.

I got into the medical laboratory field by accident, and after working in that field for twenty-eight years, I have to say that I wish that I would have followed my heart, and made the career change to my passion, which is landscape architecture. Now I am fifty-eight years old, and too old to have the options that I had twenty (or thirty) years ago. My advice is to follow your dreams, and pursue your passion- the sooner the better.

As far at the Vet thing goes i wouldnt recomend it. your better off being a doctor. doctors only study humans while a Vet has to study all kinds of pets; horses, pigs, cats, dogs, birds and reptiles. also with this economy more and more people and neglecting to take there pets in because they cant aford to do so. therefore the salery sucks and people are getting layed off and going out of business. so please chose something else form the list.

i like the truck driver remark when i know of over a hundred people in my area making 2k a 5 day week and it is now 2010 so, and also dont think its that easy you try driving all day everyday with people like you pulling out in front of you and stopping in front of you knowing you could kill someone in an instant at 60 to 70 tons it takes alot more concentration and know how than you think genious

Great list but I can't tell you how many of these jobs require specific past experience. I am finding it just about impossible to make a career change because of this and I have great transferable credentials in marketing, management and sales. Unfortunately my experience is home improvement and construction products and there's not much out there. I'm also 61 and the prospect of going back to school for 2 years is kind of daunting at my age.
