I have a journalism/advertising background and find myself currently laid off. I think I'll take a government job in PR, since that fits my background and qualities. One of those jobs that can be apparently found all over the U.S. I'll just pack all my belongings, including my husband and teenage son, sell our house and move. OH WAIT! I won't be able to sell my house, and I have no more savings left to move on. Well, I'll just go back to college. OH WAIT! I have a son who is a senior in high school and graduating in May. So, he needs the money to go to college; however, we probably won't be able to send him - or me - to college since we won't be able to get school loans. This list is not in the least bit helpful. Ghostwriter! Are you serious? Have you looked at the number of writers/copywriters/reporters out of work? No one is hiring in the creative field. And creative people usually don't have science/medical degrees to fall back on. UGH!

Most of the cited jobs are bullshit good for nothing jobs and what is funny is that you don't mention what the US needs the most in order to be recognized as a developped country: TEACHERS!

Since you lost your job as a financial advisor, you should have a lot more than 3 minutes to read articles, you should have all day.

A lot of people in your position lost their jobs, simply because the average american doesn't need a financial advisor anymore. We have the internet to do our research and our banking, and we can do it on our lunch breaks if we want.

I think the economy is straying away from any sort of management position. At least in engineering, we have eliminated that title in the office and engineers are taking on double duty and taking home big salaries as a result.

Economy is driven by production and sales, not moving money back and forth, which is why we have secure jobs and bankers are getting laid off left and right, the internet does your job for you.

The fact you think any type of landscape work will be staying power is funny as hell.

What is going to be designed? It sure as hell won't be the landscape of houses that people can't afford to keep.
