.....and if you think Obama started the attempt to get us out of this you also wrong. It satrted last year with the Bush stimulus check you gladly took and spent. And the stimulus bill was drafted during Bush's tenure and supported by the President himself, way before Obama took office. The difference is in implementation and I fear the money is going to largely be wasted on graft and corruption in the way it is divided.....another istance of our congressional leaders corrupt minds living in a me-me-me society.

You need to check more facts before you start bashing Bush...this occurred a long time before Bush's tenure. It started when American society started to get greedy and become the Me - Me- Me society we now are. Spending what we didn't have, making sure our kids kept up with the "Jones's", buying 16 year olds brand new cars, driving kids to resent one another in school because their parents could not afford to keep up and they become outcasts to the "cool kids" (leading to dsiasters like Columbine)....the greed spread to businesses and big corporations. Mortgage company employees who get big commissions to close loans started giving out unqualified loans so they could get their cut of the pie. Banks started making bad decisions in investments so they could get another piece of the pie, now rather than later. If anyone is to blame for not keeping up with what was going on in the mortgagte business it is Barney Frank and his Senate Finance Committee buddies who KNEW what was going on but, oh yea, his "partner" happened to be a big-wig at Fannie Mae adn was making millions. You can't blame this crap on a president - blame it on the American society as a whole who are so freaking greedy we are killing our own economy. Don't look to Obama to fix it (not that he is even qualified). Americans have to look within......

It took over eight years for us to get in this mess and we have ourselves to thank,... atleast those of you who voted George Bush in office, TWICE! DO NOT think for a split second that Obama is going to turn things around over night. It may take years even decades for this country to get out of this hole. So stop bashing Obama!!!! He did NOT get us in this but he is trying his best to get us out. Yall should have been putting this kind of pressure on the last President who got us here!!!

Its not going to help anyone in MO either!! I live in a small town of maybe 500. We're going to be the last ones thought of. Tyson shut down the local plant that employed over 400!! It was our livelyhood. Then they tell us we'll get unemployment benefits! yea right, How are we suppose to pay the bills, buy food, Job hunt, pay for car repairs on $172.00 a week? That's $200.00 less than I was making at my job. Plus they don't take taxes out of it. O.K. so Obama's going to extend the unemployment and give a $2,500.00 tax break at the end of '09! Whoopdy Doo!! I'm still going to owe taxes at the end of the year that i can't pay. And yes, I probably drive one of those old polluting vehicles. Would you give me a loan if you were the bank manager? Doubt it!! I didn't ask for all this foreclosure on homes,( I can't even own one) so those of you who do and are able to keep up the payments, Congradulations, and i didn't ask for my employer to shut down and leave with no options for future employment. There's not even a McDonalds job in the area. I have a 10% chance of finding a job in a town 40 miles away but can't afford the gas or the move. I just hope Oboma can stimulate something in this Country, Bu8sch sure gummed up the works...

so how will the stimulus help the unemployed in florida? my husband used to earn 800.00 weekly now the max unemployment is 275.00 weekly. what do we pay first? our mortgage? health insurance? electric bill? car payment? what a dilemma- need the truck to make money- cant afford to lose the health insurance due to health issues-have to pay the electric bill or you cant stay warm oh yeah cant afford to use the heat too expensive!! now that leaves the mortgage well guess we can pay that next month! but that extra 25 that we should get on unemployment should put gas in the truck for job hunting if there were any jobs.

I find it appalling to see another story about the benefits of the stimulus bill without mentioning some facts that are rarely mentioned.
1) Pelosi & Reid stripped the E-Verify protections from the final bill. As a result, 1 in 7 jobs created will go to illegal aliens!
2) Obama claims this bill will create 3-4 million jobs
over the next 2 years.
The United States brings in 1.5 million new foreign
workers on visas each year. Between these 2 facts,
it doesn't look like any of the jobs will go to
Americans.
When is the media going to report the truth to the people? We're being sold out by our politicians and no one is telling the truth.

I have listened to all the theories how this stimulus package is to help “kick start” the economy. One aspect I have not heard addressed is how we intend to bring back manufacturing. The auto makers want the taxpayers to bail them out while they and every other manufacture have sent their operations to Mexico, China, and India. If we do not make something in this country how is anything going to get better. We cannot build an economy which offers only services to our own sectors while buying goods from other countries. Sooner than latter those countries are going to have all our money, opps they already do. We are also 11.7 trillion in debt to them. The only question is now; can we still recover or have we let the government and corporate fat cats sell the country out from under us?
