There's nothing that will bring jobs back to America. So long as corporations control politicians and corporations see profit in hiring the cheapest labor for ONE TENTH the cost of an American worker, this will keep happening. A Ford factory worker in the U.S. makes between $15 and $30 per HOUR. A Ford factory worker in China makes $9 per DAY.
Every year, a quarter to a third of China's college graduates (that's about 1.5 to 2 million people with degrees) can't find jobs. When they do, the salary is under $400/month. No wonder a Rutgers University study of Americans who graduated college between 2006 and 2010 found that only 53% of them were at a full time job - the rest unemployed, working part-time, or in grad school (despite many graduate students not able to find work either). Even the ones who did find a job, over 50% said they were at a job that DID NOT REQUIRE A DEGREE.
Up-skilling doesn't work when everyone else is up-skilling, too. You are delusional if you think our science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) graduates can find jobs at rates like they used to. A lot of the other countries are up-skilling their workers faster than we are. They graduate MILLIONS of students every year from college. Those students are happy to make less than $400/month and work at an overseas R&D facility, being directed over the Internet.
Just a few years ago, a company that I worked for, laid off just 10 QA and Engineering folks paid between $70k and $100k, and used the money to open an R&D center in India staffed with some 30+ people, AND had more than half the money left over as savings. In India, doctors there are typing up medical transcriptions for doctors here displacing American medical transcriptionists who tend to be stay-at-home moms making ends meet, lawyers are doing contract review and document review that used to be the staple of young lawyers and those not from the best schools without good connections, and accountants are doing tax returns for Ernst & Young.
Meanwhile, in America, up to a third of high school students fail to graduate. That's 1.2 million students who become a drain on the social welfare system after over $10,000 average spent on per pupil per year by school districts. (classroom, facilities, teachers, administrators, support staff). But hey, even the ones who do graduate, it turns out a lot of them are functionally illiterate anyway.
You can blame Obama or the Democrats, or Bush or the Republicans all you want. But that won't change the truth. They ALL are to blame for pandering to the special interests and corporations that pretend to wave the flag but in reality prefer profits over patriotism. This has been going on for decades now, and we are now seeing the end results.
All the blame-gaming makes me think about two rats in a ship, fighting each other and trying to score points while the ship slowly sinks from holes bashed in by the captain and his crew in red and blue.

In fact, I should say, anyone here who blames any specific President or political party admits to being blind to the truth and admits to not caring about the direction America is going, but would rather be a rat just trying to gnaw at the other rat.

Hasn't America spent enough! There is too much money being spent while many Americans are suffering from financial woes and loss of employment.

I am so sick and tired of all this nonense. A second one? How about this- The FIRST one should have gone to the PEOPLE of this country..NOT the big businesses. Last time I checked, aren't people like me the ones who KEEP big businesses IN business? If each working person got a piece of that 787B pie, guess what? The money would have gone back into the system, and things would not be as bleak as they are right now. Yes, I said BLEAK...if you are one of those blinded by the figures the govt keeps telling all of us,here's some reality....14.5 mil people, 9.4% unemployed?
What about people like me, who do NOT qualify for unemployment, has been jobless for 2 months, can't get assistance BECAUSE I don't have unemployment. Where do MY numbers fit? I have been carefully figuring this out....I would not be shocked (neither should YOU) if the number was closer to like 20-25 million. And that's being LENIENT! Hmm..last time I checked, 10% of 350 mil is 35 mil...are my numbers off? I think not.
I am SO sick and tired of politicians flappin gums, doing nothing more than wasting MY tax dollars trying to figure out how to get us out of this mess...OH SHUT UP!! If you can't help the people out there, homeless, children in THIS country going to bed hungry, cold, then you need to get to steppin and walk among them..maybe THEN you can see what they are going through!
And WHAT middle class?!? There IS no middle class in this country anymore! You are either rich, or poor. The rich get rich and the poor DIE...it's that simple..The rich line their pockets with gold..the poor have to deal with the scraps. It is a real shame how this country has forgotten its core principles...how we escaped oppression, only to be hypocrites 233 years later.
Mister President...I think I can speak on behalf of millions out there who are TRULY suffering....if you can sit down and have a beer with a Professor and Policeman, then you can also have a beer and a sit down with P O V E R T Y !!!!!!!!

Why on earth would we want to tack on more debt to be paid by the middle class and our grandchildren? You cannot spend you way out of debt. If we, as responsible taxpayers, tried that the whole country would be worse off. Instead we work hard, manage our money carefully so the government can come in and take it in the form of it's many taxation initiatives. Enough is enough! It is time for citizens and businesses to take a stand and say no more bailouts for the deadbeats. Keep government out of private enterprise and it's citizens pockets and let them do what they know how to do best. Leave us alone so that we can prosper and make this country what it has always been. A place that you can be proud to live in. Let the churches and good hearted citizens of this country help those who need assistance and leave them enough money to do it. We can all spend our money better than the government can. We do not waste money on pork projects or million dollar bonuses. Pack it up government before you bankrupt our country. Leave Americans alone and let them do what they do best, and we will work our way out of these hard times. God Bless America and restrain it's government.

.The first stimulas worked wonders...Auto workers put out of work - shipping their jobs to Canada - Mexico - and China.. Clunker buy out - without auto workers - guarantees auto executives bonuses bonuses
. President Bush wanted to privatise Social Security - Isn't that just what Wall Street did with a 40% drop in value to your 401K plans - all while getting bonuses.
. Citibank just paid 5.33 Billion Dollars in BONUSES this year -.- BUSINESS AS USUAL....
..Recession...Foreclosures...no health care ( the Congress Has The Best Health Care In The WORLD )
BUT don't worry bonuses all around - Wall Street - Banks -.- stimulas package stimulated them didn't it

we always here stories about how we are in debt with the other major countries in the world.how is this possible?we are recognized as the strongest nation and yet we are at an all time high for unemployment.the u.s.seems to always help other countries in time of need, well our own are in need now so where is the help?i think there should be a second stimulus but it needs to be closely monitored.there are many dishonest people in the world and at these times everyone is looking to get some free money. the people that have money still find ways to get their share and the poor as well. so the answer, well i believe we have enough men and woman in congress that make over 6 figures a year to figureout what to do.i just recently lost my job i am not lookig for pity just some financial help until i can find another job. it has been 2 months out of work i dont think i can survive a third.loans in my opinion are not acceptable. grants should be awarded for those who deserve them.those that have worked all their lives.the ones that have provided for their family not the deadbeats.you see dishonesty everyday.why should i be held accountable because someone decided to have four or more kids and now they want goverment assistance.it is not goverment assistance it is the publics assistance we are the ones that pay for their help each month.i agree with the statement above. it is time for change.
