+1 For what has been stated. Another piece of useful advice. Plan what YOU would like to experience as a couple. There will be no shortage of suggestions from others about every thing from the type of dress to the date of the wedding! Ultimately, it is up to you and her to make and stick with the choices that you decide upon because they are the best fit for the two of you.

I have an idea for grooms. If you cannot find a nice girl who volunteers the idea of having a very, very small wedding, don't get married yet. There ARE such sensible fish out there in the sea, and your whole future life will be happier if you take the time to find one with life priorities that don't include "prince and princess" parties.

Marriage is about you and her holding hands for decades all the way to your personal sunsets. It is not about guest lists, caterers, venues and decorations.
