How to Turn Volunteering Into a Job

Americans aren't the only ones. I've helped out at food banks for 2 summers, library programs to help kids read for 4 years, after-school programs homework helping for 2 years, art galleries teaching kids how to draw for one year, I've donated my hair for cancer, I've helped out with community events all in the last 4 years.

Why are only Americans being recognized for volunteering? lol

I'm interested in hearing about where you've traveled and found "the mindset is not as charitable." Many Americans who have visited and truly experienced other cultures would say that many communities worldwide have generous spirits and are more willing to share even when they have less than we do. I cant think of a single place I've visited where I haven't been moved by the warm welcome of those who received me.

America is not "the only country that has given;" look at all of those countries, corporations, and individuals who have responded generously to recent global disasters. America actually consumes a very disproportionate amount of the world's resources, which is arguably not at all generous.

Why America was blessed among all nations is no accident.

Americans are the only people in human hsitory that have

given. Our soldiers have kept the world free of terrorism,

pricacy. America still gives rice to countires dueing draught.

God's law of favor begins with giving. It is one real hope of

recovery when people give especially under God's guidance.

Even during out darkest hours, God will bless America. In

viewing other countries, giving is a lesser native habit that

came from our Christian and Judio history. Try traveling to other countries and you'll see the mindset is not as charitable. That is the reason they receive not the blessings as does America.

We are in deep economic, constututional division and strife

often neglecting the rights of citizenship due to trade agreements and diabolical presence in many positions of power whether in government, the supreme court, our churches, but the historical

mindest from our history of those who give constitutute the basis of blessing from on high.

i love volunteering, i love it because its from the heart, i dont feel any pressure doing what am assigned to do but only joy while doing everything am given to do.

yes i would like to do all that with a payment at the end but i would love it more if i did all of it as long as i dint have to fit my bills.

i confess that God is good forever, am pleased to tell you that i never lack transport, i never go without a meal, i do have clothings and shelter and even some of the luxuries yet i dont earn any payment for my services. isnt that amazing....

And i know with God am having a permanent job just a few times from now....

I courage everybody never to giveup or quit, always Welcome every morning with a smile, look on the new day as another special gift from your creator, another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday. Be a self-starter. Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day. Today will never happen again.Dont waste itwith a false start or no start at all. You were not born to fail.

peace and joy to you all.....

When I became unemployed from the ranks of corporate America I chose to work for a worthy cause instead of drawing an unemployment check. Technically not volunteering, the pay of a PARATRANSIT DRIVER is so low that it seems as though it is. Helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves—the physically and/or mentally disabled has become the most rewarding endeavor of my 30 years in the workforce.

Thanks to the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, municipalities with mass transit must provide an alternative public transit for the disabled—this gave rise to paratransit service. The drivers of these vans and buses come home each day knowing they have delivered a real value to the community—by helping others realize their full potential. This experience is a great launching pad to career paths never before imagined.

Volunteering is excellent...in fact..i enjoy volunteering more than earning a salary or income at this current time..don't get me wrong..an income is definitely needed in the long run (if i could volunteer fulltime in 1-2 places of work per week and could magically have all of my bills/personal expenses paid and out of the way so that i could further pursue such..trust me..I WOULD graciously and happily..i get more satisfaction helping as a volunteer than i did on a job of 10+ years getting paid.) maybe one day i would be blessed to do so (where i would be able to simply concentrate on helping millions of ppl while someone else concentrate on taking care of my financial obligations) ; however, in the meantime... why not help someone NOW ( i love the art of just simply doing it). What are some GAINS: (a) you learn new skills as the article already suggested, (b)it allows ppl to observe your work ethics and abilities in action ...therefore opening avenues and pathways to (c) getting a great reference for a future job position you may desire to have (d) provide you with new career opportunity within that industry/field of the volunteer work and (e) it can lead you to satisfactory - excellent pay within that industry/field of volunteer work that you may come to love and could see yourself continuing to do for a long-term. VOLUNTEERING...I LOVE IT..I LOVE IT..I LOVE IT...it also allows me time to prepare and organize personal projects i've always dreamed of doing but never before had the opportunity to do (such a writing, starting a business,etc.)...If you're an unemployed professional such as myself.....Seize the moments and opportunities (if you are able)..and explore doing something foreign to you and meeting ppl that are not typically in your circle..and reap it's rewards and personal benefits..It's AWESOME!!! God will bless you as I know that He will for me as well in these difficult and hard economic times.......Take Care

Even with the positive public speaking skills that I have and my ability to strike up conversations with people, I still do not see what I've to offer by being a volunteer. I know this may sound odd but I guess after being unemployed for about 14 months my positive self-esteem is non-existent. It's never been very high in the first place but even lower now. I do see that volunteering may be of a help for alot of people but what about the person that sees the glass as half empty instead of half full? I exonerate the men and women who do so however but only those with good intentions. To volunteer for the purposes of ones own benefit is an abomination but hopefully that is not the case for the majority of the people who volunteer.
